I know. I've done it twice already, and it's definitely worth it.

3X here. Well worth it every time with doing the basics. Crossovers (caps/resistors), clean connections, new terminals and tidied up the internal wiring and shortened some in a couple of cases. I still need to do the XLR connections on my SRS II's since I have all the parts now.

well with 12 drivers a side i am sure the wire measurments had a tolerance, but silver wire is differant. the signal is much faster and i dont know if mathew and his design team calculated this. thats why i am here, its suppossed to be a direct link to technical support. thanks for those supporting me in this thread.

WOULD NEVER USE 16GA ON A SPEAKER RATED FOR 1000W .....14GA MIN WITH TEFLON JACKET..... ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW ANYWAY.

Do an effing search. Your questions have been answered hundreds of times in the past. I wouldn't waste my time rewiring the internal wiring in any speaker. I have a pair of SDA 1C's and Monitor 5B's. Using new high quality non-electrolytic caps and Mills wire wound resistors, new binding posts and an upgraded (better quality thicker cable) umbilical cord vastly improved both sets of vintage Polks I have.

Put some effort in and start searching the forum there at a minimum 25-30 posts on refreshing caps, with pics, analysis, and tips, etc. If while you're in there you want to use high dollar wiring go for it, IMO it's a waste of money and effort but then you do what ever floats your boat.

There is no DIRECT LINE to Polk support except a phone call. I assume you have a phone. With you having a PhD in EE I would think you could talk to someone in support for awhile and really gain some insight to these speakers. All the info and more you are asking about is here in the forum.

Geez, I feel like I'm scolding an 8 year old who has no social skills
