Well, I have a PS audio ultimate outlet, but that doesn't do the kind of regulation that the Monster is supposed to do. It is just a filter and a good hospital grade outlet. It's great though... I actually have used it for a few different things just to try it out. I use a pro 21" CRT for my computer, and with the UA, I never had a clearer picture.

I wanted a power conditioner that I could use for more than just one thing... Monster has some separation (the UA doesn't) between sources. I considered an APC, maybe because I don't trust the Monster brand... but I seem to see them used in many many systems in the showcase, so I thought there must be something to them.

The ultimate in power tweaks is, indeed, the PS audio Power Plant. Regeneration is the name of the game if you are serious about your A/C, but I am not sure what kind of system you would need to hear the advantage. You have a serious system... so maybe one of the smaller PPs for your CD player, and an UA for the amp, with the PP plugged into the extra outlet. PS Audio has good customer service, you can call them and they will talk to you for a long time about what does what and so on... some of their stuff is kindof hyped over, like the noise harvester, that thing is more like the noise maker... steer clear of that one.

I agree about the PS Audio Hype. They are kind of a more elite Monster in my opinion. I am actively looking for other power conditioning options. I know Monster sells hype and very recently I learned PS Audio is very good at it as well. The Premier is at the top of my list but I would like to find some company that is more cut and dry in their marketing and their designs.

Well right now it sounds pretty crappy but that's just because the amps haven't broken in yet. After charging for a few days however I can already hear the changing. When I first got them they were bright as hell.
Here is post six. I guarantee this will be different on the next post.

...and that good thing would be? Care to indulge us?

P.S. I just got a PS Audio duet to replace a Monster HTS-3500 and it works great, no bs. I had a ultimate outlet before and I didn't notice any difference. You could also look into BPT for balanced power, good stuff.

No indulging yet. It'll be a surprise. I feel like such a tool. But I did indicate "for now". Oh well, I really just could not pass up this deal. I am going to miss the adagios. If they don't sell, I am going to keep them as backups. I love these speakers. I really had to think and listen before I made my decision.

Ok time to fess up . . . I bought a new pair of Anthony Gallo Acoustic Reference 3.1s w/ additional amp for the subwoofers.

I heard them while I visited home on MLK day. I was blown away. 22hz on these babies hits strong, fast and tight. MY AZs are more neutral, but the Gallos were just more fun to listen to.

:D Muh hahahahahahahaha (Dr. evil laugh)
Just wait until they break in. New, mine were a bit nasilly and constrained. Give them 200 hours of high power with bass. They will transform. Now you need to get an amp. Do you think they image better than the ADA's afterall?

What do the 3.1's do that the ADA's do not, and vice versa? This will change as the 3.1's break in. Congrats.

Well actually, yes they might. Given their tweeter design I think the image is wider with a little more depth. Time will tell once I get them in my room.

Their versatility really yanked me over to the dark side. Once you add that external amp, its a no brainer. 22hz. when listening to Tool is amazing. I did buy the amp.

The guy showed me the Gallos w/o the sub amps and I liked what I heard. HE added the sub amps and I about ****. And he knew it. Good stuff.

Another convert...sweet. I love my 3.1s. One thing about setting up the SA: According to Ric Schulz, the mids/highs of the Ref 3s are wired in inverted polarity and the bass driver in normal polarity. He did some mods on these a while back, long story short I had the SA and couldn't get it to sound right until I inverted polarity.

I never tried the SA amp but heard it at the dealer. I am torn between it and a sub. I am not a basshead so maybe the SA would work. Damn I am so confused.
But welcome to the dark side. What are you going to do with the AZA's?

Wait... you went out and bought the Gallos before the others even broke in? Hehehe... that's awesome.

The gallos are pretty damn good speakers. That tweeter sounds so nice. I demoed a pair a while back. I didn't even think they needed a sub.

Well, the AZ Adagios are broken in for sure. I just want to try something a bit different. I like the sound of the Gallos, but I by no means look down on the AZAs. They are an awesome speaker.

I presume that the Gallos you demoed at the dealer were broken in. Now that you bought a new pair, do you find them a bit constrained as compared to the ones you demoed? For me it was very aparant. The Gallos will smoothen out with break in. But break in on the Gallos is more about high power and low frequency as opposed to just playing time. Low volumes and power will never break them in.

Yeah the tweeter on the gallos is crossed over at a point where it really gets to moving some air... so crank em up I guess.

My new Gallos are definitely not the same as the ones I heard in the shop. The ones in the shop were broken in. That being said, now nothing in my system is broken in so everything sounds extra flat and crappy. Well crappy by my standards anyway. My brother is blown away by the sound but he owns a Bose Lifestyle system so eff him.
