You answered your own question. Ultimately, the consumer gets screwed if there is no competition.
A year or two from now the industry will probably introduce another breakthrough format and race will begin again. Yah, but previous HD-format sales probably never topped 20k.... I think this will be the last non digital-distribution format. At least, maybe until 1TB of flash memory is cheaper than bandwidth costs.My Iron Man training/charity blog.

so HD TV is dead.......man that did not take long...........these TV electronic folks really need to get out more, there is a whole world out there full of music.

No man HD DVD is. HD TV is going strong and well. Long live Multichannel audio Lossless and 1080p.
