Mark, it will be about a month or two before anything happens...if you are interested, let me know and perhaps we can work something out.

Good luck Troy. Dad spent a little over a year at Osan working on TR-1's back in the late 80's. I hated him having to go, but all the cheap clothes, shoes etc were kind of cool :)

Curious as to what your housing situation is going to be in Korea.

Do you quarter on base, or is it possible/common practice for a couple of guys to rent out a cheap house off base ?

Either way, won't you be somewhat limited on the level of gear you set up ?

On base: "Hey, hold the noise down !"
Off base: "Thanks, GI, for lending us your fine gear"
(note left on kitchen table for you to read while you were out)

.....I hope this post meets your approval.

When my brother was in the Corps doing maneuvers in Seoul (Team Spirit - 1988) he got a bunch of blankets and a lot of leather goods.

Said the same thing you did about driving over there - said it was insane, he used the pony cars.

Hope all is well, Stay safe!

No, I will live on base. I still have a house to maintain back in the states so even if I wanted to live downtown (which used to be VERY uncommon unless you brought your spouse over without command sponsorship), I couldn't afford it. Plus, everything is convenient living on base.

Now, as to the setup....as a SNCO, I get two rooms about 15x15, IIRC. One is a bedroom, the other a living/sitting room. They are both wired for US 110v electricity as well.
