Well, that about sums it up, I'd say.
oh, great. a math expert! LOL:rolleyes: and i thought you could only read minds!
to everyone else, thanks for the info, support etc. it is actually putting a smile on my face! it is kind of funny! in general, it feels like a pretty decent group of folks. i also had absolutely no idea what a set of speakers that i bought in 1989 would be worth. so when you "google" their name and it points you to a forum all about the company that makes them, it seemed logical that i'd ask the question here. of course i didn't expect an exact answer. i was hoping to get a range or understanding of possible value. i understand that none of you know me, but then again i don't know any of you and i would not pass judgement based on a question. if i decide to sell, would i like to sell the sda 1.2s here? of course i would. does that make me a bad guy? i don't think so. i promise all of you this (yes, even you F1nut), i am honest, sincere and direct. life is too short to worry about crap! i've worked much to hard to get where i am today to change now! i try to take people at their face value, and i like to give everyone i meet or come in contact with a chance. again, if you knew me, you'd say that i would be the one that gets screwed in the end more often then not!
p.s. what's my post count up to now? LOL:DTesting

well let's see now if i can answer all the questions. first off, i checked on e-bay and coudn't find anything. when i googled sda srs 1.2 it led me here. as i said, i have had the things for almost 20 years! wife and i wanted smaller now that we are in a condo. actually have already bought something else, so money is not an object. i just wanted to be fair and get fair. i'm 57 and a vp of hr at a large company so if i sell them for 1000 or 3000 doesn't really matter to me. ias i said, i've already spent another 1500 already. in fact i might not sell them at all! so in the end, it may be this forum that loses out when i keep them or sell them elsewhere. maybe i'm naive, but it has been quite abit of pain to get when i ask a polk forum a question like how much are a vintage set of speakers worth. life is much to short guys. maybe it's my age but it sure hasn't felt like it was worth the trouble to ask a simple question. by the way, to answer some other stuff, i've got them tri-amped with b&k mono-blocks (200w) for each low end and a b&k st140 (105w/channel) for the high end. ilove old rock (joe walsh, reo, supertramp) the blues (larry mccray, anson funderburgh) and jazz (larry carlton, grover washington, david sanborn). i have over 1000 cds and also run a pioneer elite 60 inch plasma through my system. so, if anyone thinks i'm trying to cheat, make a few extra bucks, or somehow screw the members of this forum thay are absolutely and unequivically wrong. there, i've said my piece, goodnight, i'm tired!
by the way, about 15 miles frfom newburyport!
The rules of selling things here are for a reason to protect both the buyer and seller. This is an example of how things can go wrong, someone shady with few posts mentions that he has some rare sought after item and that he has no idea of its value. A greedy or simply desperate forum member that has always wanted one of these decides to pm this fellow in the hopes of getting it first or getting it cheap. the seller agrees and asks to be paid and shows pictures of the item to the buyer, the buyer sends the money knowing he got a great deal and it was worth the risk. Meanwhile 4 other members do the same thing and the seller agrees to sell each of them the same item, pockets the money and is never heard from again. Or it is a legit item but in this instance the seller recieves 5 pms and tells the first fellow that so and so offered me x amount more than you did and starts a bidding war behind the scenes and sells his item without having to pay ebay fees or having 25 posts.
This is why Jesse/F1nut and others here frown on asking about how much something is worth then stating it may be for sale.
It can lead to bad things happening not that you are dishonest in any way.
REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -

F1Nut, you need to lay off the Newbie taunting. There is nothing wrong with him looking for the value of his speakers on this forum, and looking at his post, it doesn't seem like he was trying to push them, rather, just looking for experienced opinions.
Let's get this thread back on track, ASAP. No more back and forth nonsense.

Oooo he's close to me.......if you decide to sell PM me first please.

I already told him you had a 3 hr head start on me and that you were probably already on the way. -

I'm about 20 miles from Newburyport. Always wanted to find a pair of 1.2s for my low-floor-space listening room.
If you wanted to swap 'em for two McIntosh pairs I'd be all set. -
John, where do you live?

This could be a problem. Time for the Thunderdome. -
All of you guys (and girls, sorry Cathy!) are up around and in Beantown, and a couple of good Polk folks down on the Cape. Why don't you folks organize a little audio get together. I know of at least seven or eight Boston area Polkies who are actively posting on this Forum. It sounds like you folks have never met face to face??? Get with the Polk spirit! (spirits not necessary but often used at Polk meets:D). Go for it!Carl

Can we use your place for the party? I mean get together....
I did meet up with Cathy for a great day at Goodwins......and I just offered John In MA to come by.......organizing things stinks.....I'm more of an "on the fly" type planner myself. -

I'm jealous!:D I want to know though did she slap you around for all the wise cracks before settling down? -

Wise cracks? Me? No way you have the wrong BaggedLancer. I consider myself more of a serious, mature young man.
And I was the one who drove, so I don't think slapping me around would have been good for a ride back....it's a pretty good walk from Waltham to Boston.
That day is what pushed me into wanting a 2 channel rig so bad it wasn't even funny......now it's just turning into a disaster. I decided I'm just going to stuff my face with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, cookies, pie and other healthy and delicious delights on thursday to make the pain go away. Should be good for my diet....going to make sure I get atleast 2 hours of cardio in thursday morning.... -
One of these days I'll get around to meeting you people. Never manage to get to stuff like that, even the big regional get-togethers.
If I can get a set of 1.2s and sell the Mac washing machines I might be able to fit a few visitors in, though. -

hey, it's all good. i just lost a friend in iraq, and i read this and it seems irrelevent. but hey, i am new(only to the forum, as i purchased the first set of sda-srs's in washington state, circa 1986-and currently own 15 polks). sounds like you don't need the $, so build a 2 channel room, rebuild/mod the 1.2's, put a fridge in there, and enjoy!
-
now look at all the great stuff my post has started. we got parties going on, people trying to figure out where i live LOL - anyway, as a newbie, i am still in shock at the size of this forum and how many polkies are in Massachusetts.Testing
