Hi Folks,

I just received a long distance phone call from my sister that my Mom has been rushed to hospital. Details are limited at this time but it sounded like a stroke. I am at a bit of a loss for words right now and I can only wait for the phone to ring and pray for the best.

Thanks,
Michael.

Hi folks. First of all, for those of you that were kind enough to offer your thoughts, Thanks. It meant a lot to me during this time. It has been a very long day.

My Mom has had a stroke. She is in the hospital and has been seen by many Doctors (actually 4) during the course of the day. From talking to my brother, sister and other relatives it would appear Mom has had what I would consider to be a mild stroke, but I'm not in the medical profession. She recognizes everyone, understands all the questions, but the responses do not always come out coherently. She told the doctor she was 93. No she is 71. She knew what town she lived in but not the street name. She could read some sentences and not others. Some questions she did not have the answer for. Some sentences were mixed up. She does not appear to have lost any feeling in any body parts nor have any numbness.

She will be in the hospital for a while and the specialist indicated that they would monitor her progress and reactions over the next few days. Being over 3,000 miles away is not easy. All types of tests have been done and I do not even know all the names. I will just have to wait and see what the prognosis is over the next couple of days. Thanks again everyone. Have a good evening.
    Michael ;)

Any time there is a stroke involved it is bad ,but given the circumstances it sounds like it may have been caught early enough to have some positve results. I will continue to remember your mom in my prayers.

Mike this is a very very good indicator that the stroke wasn't/isn't that bad and that she can recover from this. My mom had the same type of stroke three different time and she recovered fully except with some mild peripheral blindness.

May God Bless and Keep Her.
