Thanks again everyone for your support. I can feel the Polk energy.
My Mom was having a MRI exam today and I do not have the results. The specialist indicated that the stroke was at the base of the brain on the left side. From what he indicated the next month will be the most critical as this will be the period when reoccurrence can happen. There apparently is some buildup in the arteries at the back of her neck. Should she be confirmed to be a candidate for surgery (I am guessing the MRI will reveal this), they will complete this and help reduce the probability of another stroke. As well, it is quite difficult to retain the services of a Speech Pathologist and my Mom’s doctor has stated that he will make it his job to find a suitable one this week. When the doctors are good they are good. So it’s a time thing here and I am really glad Mom has great medical attention. They even let my sister-in-law be present for the MRI as my Mom would have been extremely nervous by herself. The nurse dedicated to my Mom has even given her home number to the family. In a city of 1M+ people this does not happen too often. Thanks again everyone for your thoughts in my time of need.
    Michael ;)

I have not been around the forum that much in the last month - you know work, home projects and everything else. Mom has taken a turn for the worst and has been hospitalized in Sudbury, Ontario while visiting my sister. It seems cancer has now taken over. The Doctors are very nice according to Mom and she says that she does not want to be transported back to her home town hospital. That is her wish. Anyway, the medical staff has now requested that family come so we are off to Sudbury. Long trip. It's a sad trip but I need to say goodbye to my Mom while I can. I talked to her on the phone a little last night but she was quite sedated as the hospital staff administered morphine the other day. While I know the end is quite near, it is always tough with the loss of a loved one. I just do not want her to suffer too long.

Good luck, not an easy time. Been through 4 passings of friends and family so far this year myself. Laugh and joke about all the good times is the only way to get through it I've found.

Mike, may God bless you and your family. Your mom and your family have our prayers. Hang in there bud it really is a good thing to be able to say goodbye to a loved one. When it was time for my mom to pass it gave me a great deal of peace to say goodbye and to thank her for all the sacrifice she did for me throughout my life.
