H9 - I won't stoop to Special K's level and dump private information on a public forum. But the reality is that he is a very troubled individual with a lengthy history of behavior that doesn't exactly conform to societies expectations. I actually feel a little bit sorry for him, but not enough to over-look the trouble he has caused on this forum. He will move on to a new venue when his ability to get the attention he needs on this forum goes away. This is kind of like a divorce, there's Special K's story, there's the information you can find from a variety of sources, and somewhere in-between there is the truth.

Good morning Ka7niq. The thread where you posted your previous inquiry has been closed. I did not want to hijack another thread, so I thought it more appropriate to post my response in a separate thread. Let's begin.

I do not see an analogy between a company founder autographing a book, that, according to you, accused him of being a rip off artist, and a company owner including a feature that he does not particularly agree with, but is nevertheless harmless to the design of the product. I realize this may be difficult or even impossible for you to follow/grasp/comprehend, but the first case is an example of alleged libel, which is legally actionable. The second case is an example of a company owner including a feature that he does not see the need for, but that his customers demand and are willing to pay for. The fact that you see these two widely disparate situations as analogous makes you appear to have poor reasoning ability.

If you think Matt Polk would autograph several copies of a book where the author is calling him a scam artist, then that is a great insult to him. I have said on several occasions, in posts on this forum, that I received modification guidance from Polk Audio. If I held the belief that I knew better than them, I certainly would not have sought their advice. This is basic common sense, in which you appear to be sorely lacking.

This is another example of you rehashing an old discussion just for the sake of argument. At one time I owned fifteen pairs of Polk Audio speakers, which included SDA’s and other series. If I thought Polk speakers sounded “bad” I would not have owned so many pairs. I currently own five pairs of SDA’s and two pairs of LSi’s. I removed the electrolytic in the SDA’s, but the LSi’s are unmodified, meaning their crossovers still contain electrolytic capacitors. You cannot find one instance of where I said that electrolytic caps were bad because I never said it. What I did say was this:

It appears that you have extremely poor reading comprehension and extremely poor reasoning skills. This makes it difficult to have a reasonably intelligent and linear conversation with you. You frequently misrepresent and misquote people. I don’t know if this is indicative of real mental pathology or if you are just “acting up” for attention. In either case, it makes you look bad. If you are just trying to satisfy your apparent craving for attention and acceptance, there are more positive ways of achieving it. If your behavior here is indicative of the way you interact with your customers, this provides some insight into why you have had time to make up to 34 posts per day here.

You seem to keep wanting to rehash the same tired topics over and over again, even when the other party has plainly and clearly stated their position. It is understandable that comments could be mis-remembered during a vocal conversation. It is inexcusable when the prior comments are written and recorded in a public forum. This makes it appear that you are here primarily to sow discord and to be a disruptive element.

Absolutely, call whoever you want. I still have my notes from when I did my first modification on my SDA 1B’s. Subsequent to reading an audio magazine article about speaker modifications, I called Polk on 02/15/90 and asked to speak to someone concerning speaker modifications for my SDA 1B's. I was forwarded to Polk’s engineering department and I spoke at length with someone named Chris. I did not write down his last name. I realize this is extremely important to you. It should be a simple matter to determine if the Chris I spoke to still works there. If he does not, I am sure they can provide you with his full name. You can then track him down and verify my claims. You may also be able to verify my claims with any current Polk engineering employee whose tenure goes back to 1990. My understanding from Chris was that Polk had experimented with using all film caps in SDA crossovers, but it was not practical to implement on a mass produced scale because of parts supply issues. I, and others, have told you this repeatedly. Also, I was told that several of the engineers at that time did modify their personal SDA speakers and I was enthusiastically encouraged to do so.

    Good luck with your investigation.
Please, one thing at a time.

I completely agree with the personal private thing, but it couldn't have been all that private if anyone with an inquiring mind can find it out. Many, many things are public record if one knows where to look, but by your response I "get" the idea of this person's transgressions.

So take it private numb-nuts. This is a public forum and if you post it publically ANYONE can (and has the right to) respond. God, your skull must be about 3 feet thick. You won't take it private though because you need the attention.

I just made a call to Brad Starobin at Polk.
Here is what he said about capacitors.
He felt electrolytics are fine bypassed with Mylar for lower end product.
Polks better speakers use all Mylar or film he said.
I point blank just asked him about NOT using Teflon or Polystyrene as Dark knight suggests.
He said Teflon and Polystyrene are excellent caps with increased transparency and smoothness in the top end.
He said it would be fine to use them.

Seems neither of us is in total agreement with Polk's chief engineer DK ?
You may verify my call to Brad if you wish.
I told him I was from the Polk forum, and my name is Chris.

Why respond to this child.......its a waste of energy. He just wants the attention that you are giving him. Ignore him and all his rants and maybe he will go and play somewhere else. Evidently he has been forced off other playgrounds. Life is too SHORT. ....Let him play peacefully in the background by himself.....when he gets bored he will move on. He has too much time on his hands ....we should feel SORRY for him....he doesn't know what it is to have friends like you GUYS.

Go Redskins!.....are they ready for Brady and the Bullies. Can NE finish undefeated? When was the last time that happened????

Thanks for a great site and community......where FRIENDS are TRUE.

I was thinking of an analogy earlier where DK was NE, and K was the Dolphins:p
I think DK has more class then to sit and argue with... It shows by post count and history. Also K just has issues. He is how old, and still acts how old?
Well I am going to look for something constructive to do.
