Wow! I was looking to buy an amp off the board as well. I guess it can be kind of scary, the thought of actually losing your cash and not getting what is described to you.
By the way, I went back and looked at the picture that he was displaying. I could be wrong but it looks like that picture was intentionally taken to look very dark so that you would not be able to see the actual condition of those amps. Thus, the deep blurry blackness and little detail...LSI 15

You're damn right F1. This is a shame for the entire Polk Audio community and will not be tolerated. Thank you Texas42 for bringing it to our attention. That's BS! I've got no problem calling out the seller, Cursed1. You need to make this right, refund all the money including shipping charges both ways and never try to sell here again.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Well, at least this story will end on a good note as I was able to clean up the amp and it operates with no hums or pops. It is now pulling duty on my Martin Logan Theater center channel speaker in my HT setup. Thanks for all the moral support guys.

I'm glad your amp works Texas. William I hope you gave a heads up to Shack about your 2 transactions as well.
The only way the flea market will be trusted is if all of us know when people have not been careful with the packing, or mis-stated the condition of what they are selling.
We all need to know about it so that we can make the decision if we want to risk our hard earned money on that person.
The flea market succeeds on trust, if there are those who have proven that they cannot be trusted in a transaction, then we ALL need to know who they are.The last two deals I bought here in the FM, have both arrived poorly packed, misrepresented condition, and dirty. The last was an amp, in a flimsy box less than an inch bigger than the amp itself, with a few peanuts, not even filled. Luckily the face was okay, but I had to have a friend who works in a body shop straighten out the cover and repaint it.
And these were both from long time members. I am going back to buying new only I think.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -

Texas - It sucks but its buyer beware in this business, period. You win some, you lose some and its the nature of the beast.

I did, but one was over a year ago now, and it never showed up on the good buyers and sellers list, the other was in July, I'm still hopefull it will show up someday. -

Sorry guys, I just saw this post or I would have chimed in earlier. I received mine packed the same way...no bubble wrap or anything. They were double boxed, but to be honest, I was lucky to get them undamaged. They were dirty and stained, but not to the degree as this poor fellows. I also had the same pain in the arse problem on a lack of communication with the Cursed1 after the money was sent. No e-mail responses (finally got ahold of him on the cell), and it took longer than expected to receive the items. The amps work fine and are in relatively good shape (not perfect), but the overall transaction was less than stellar.
-
Wow....yours were double-boxed??? Now, I really feel bad.... Mine only rated a single (thin) box that was taped together (loosely) with duct tape. Maybe you only get the double box treatment if you buy two?

For the record....Those who want this sort of transaction listed on the "GOOD" sellers list...well it is not going to happen. I have made a few notations where there was outright fraud and/or a totally bad deal where someone did not get paid or the goods were never delivered. I stated early on that "so called" negative feedback was not going to be listed. I only list good transactions "as reported to me" by the other party...no self reporting...no "go look at the thread" stuff. I simply don't have time to mediate or determine who was right when one side is not satisfied. This type of post will have to be the method for letting the board know if there is a disagreement and the members can determine for themselves who the offending parties are. If you all want more...then there will have to be a formal feedback system (like ebay) where Polk is in charge."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Good enough Shack. So now we know if something like this happens, people need to post a thread with details so that people know about it and can decide for themselves.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Sure, and then when it drops to page 10 a few weeks later, the seller can go back to misrepresenting items, and packaging them poorly. That'll work. -
No William, there are enough regulars on here who will remember this kind of thing & will speak up.
But there is also the fact that usually once such transactions are made public, the transgressor usually hits the road & finds somewhere else to rip people off.
I know that Cursed1 has been on the board since this thread started so he probably knows what is going on & we haven't heard anything from him publicly at any rate.
He will either make good & resume with a clean slate but with everyone on the alert or he will disappear for good.
We do give people a chance to clean up thier act, but screw up again & they are history.
But as I said, once made public usually the embarrassment alone is enough to drive them off or dry up all interest in trying to sell anything on here again.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -

I think you are mistaking us for a much larger board where it is impossible to keep track of members. We are a pretty close community and most of the bad deals are not made by long term members - rather someone in just to sell their crap and dissapear.
That is one of the reasons we are so hard on people who join and post worthless drivel just to get their post count to 25 so they can sell their crap and then run for the hills. We know where 90% of the problems will come from and that is it.

I'm just going to stick with buying new from now on. -
Well, the warning signs were there from the beginning. Reference this thread:
Cursed1 Begins Clearing His Closets
Seems like the Cursed One began making a series of junk posts back on April 10, 2007 just to get his count up so he could sell. He made 25 posts on 4/10/07. The 26th post, and every post after that from 4/10/07 to 9/06/07, was offering something for sale or trade.
I did not read through all of Cursed1's flea market ads, but I don't recall there being any complaints until the Adcom GFA-565 sales. I think we can assume that the Adcoms were the last items to be unloaded and that customer satisfaction was not a concern since he did not plan on passing this way again, hence his Adcom post-sale silence.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
Well, I guess I'm new on the board as well...and did offer up for sale my SDA-1B's after my 27th or so posting. (and was subsequently questioned about the timing). That being said, after listening to them again the past few days, I'm withdrawing the offer to sell them. Even though they are a bit massive in the room they are in, they still sound great and might spend some time (and money) in seeing what I can do to upgrade them.
I do plan on participating on this board on topics I either know things about or want to learn about. I've also been a long term poster to Audio Karma, Audio Circles, Audio Asylum, and the Klipsch Board. I love trying different combinations of gear and, as a result, do buy and sell a lot. But that is part of the fun of the hobby I think. I've found most in this hobby are very easy to deal with and represent their items accurately.
