ok so i am experiencing some more issues. my speakers are going in and out when watching a movie. the radio and cd seem to play fine. since i dont have an amplifier yet (i will order one this week-sunfire). i kept the volume low as to not hurt the speakers but the speakers or receiver (onkyo 805) is cutting out at all different levels. is this simply because i need an amp? any help would be appreciated thanks!!

Are all your speakers cutting in and out (center channel and rear channels too) all at the same time, or just your 15's? Could be your amp (in your reciever) but I would be more likely to blame the decoder in your reciever or your player just not reading the disk correctly. When the audio cuts out - do you notice your AVR redisplaying dolby digital or DTS when it finds the signal again? (on the main screen on your AVR)

Sounds like everything is just fine... the speakers are suppose to move in and out. Did you mean the speakers are cutting out?

yes, all 3 lcr cut out. complete silence and the dolby digital was what would show up when the sound came back.(i could not select plx or neo). i have watched this dvd using my old polks with my onkyo 805 many times with no problems.

Maybe a short somewhere? Check your speaker lead connections and make sure there are no strands of wires touching anywhere.

never had an issue with my dvd player ever!! (that being said just bought a xa2 cant wait to hook it up) it actually started cutting out after i noticed that dolby was selected and changed it to td (theater dimensional) since i could not find plx or neo cinema. one loud scene (and really not that loud) and it cut out. then after that i was cutting out every now and then with no particular sound level.

Sounds to me that you need an amp. That oinker can't keep up with the 4ohm load.

Not going to guarantee you that, but the way you are describing it, yes.

Personally since you already have the XA2 - I would hook it up (just like your DVD player is hooked up - just swap the cables) and see if you have the same issue. If the problem started after you changed something - have you tried changing it back?

It could be the amp, but it does not sound like it. (if it was the amp cutting out, it would not re-lock on the dolby digital signal...)

Then again - I have been mistaken before....

Also is it always the same dvd or is it happening on every DVD you play? (ones that have worked fine in the past...)

Try this... The AVR should work fine at low volumes. And since you didn't mess with anything else, it leads me to believe...

If the AVR still "cuts" out, it's either (A) your speaker wires are crossed or not connected properly, or (B) Your integrated amp can't handle the load.

not sure what u mean, but i unhooked the old speakers and just moved these new ones into place. did not need to change anything else. i did change impedence to 4ohm and unselected audessey setup since i have not had a chance to rerun.

i changed the listening mode with my onkyo remote. this is the first movie i watched. i started off with some cd music and then listened to the radio. that worked fine for about 1/2 hour each. so then i went to the movie. it was about and hour into to it and only started cutting out when i switched the listening mode to TD. (any idea why plx or neo are not showing up)

So it happened after you changed something in your onkyo - not after you hooked up the speakers. (ok, it was after you hooked up the speakers - but you could just as easily said it happened after you turned everything on, doesnt sound like a good cause and effect to me...)

Anyway - If you turn off TD and go back to dolby digital does it work? Are you running 7.1 or 5.1 (do you have back speakers)? No 7.1, No plx or neo. (unless you are running a stereo signal and it has to matrix that)

I would always run it in 6 ohm mode. Just watch the temps on your AVR if you are trying to run LSi speakers with it.. If it gets to hot - turn it off or get an amp...

one question. can i run ten gauge wire to the front 3 and 14 gauge to the surrounds. (i live in an apt so 14 would be less noticeable running along the edges. )
