**** WARNING: HIGH SNOBBERY CONTENT ****

This link is just another example to demonstrate that mainstream music sucks. That's why real audiophiles rarely listen to music made for the masses. Let the little people delight in their Bose radios, boomboxes, and car stereos while we bask in the glorious sound of overpriced gear and CDs or LPs that cost as much as dinner for two.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

There isn't a single Steely Dan album listed in the Fame section. If anyone paid attention to recordings, and the final results, it was Walter Becker & Donald Fagen. Just an example.....

The lists are worthless but there is some decent information compiled from other sources available in the links.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Amen!

Even their live performances are a few notches above.

The information in the "CD Clipping" section is very informative and scary at the same time.

Not 1 classic 'Rush' album either? There's something vaguely wrong with that fame list :\

I BIGTIME second that.... Rush also puts on an awesome live show ( Seen 3 times ) . And All the world's a stage is one of the very few live cd's I can listen to for extended periods :)

:D Great CD, wonderfully remastered. Crystal clear great music.

Of course I don't have to worry about clipping since my amp can handle anything thrown at it!:p ;):D

What this tells me is that a lot of remastered cd's is more than your average receiver can handle at some points.

What its telling you is that the sound is already clipped at any volume because of the way it was 'mastered'.

I think Steve Hoffman would have a thing or two to say about that "Best" list.

My brother gave me a CD to check out on 2CH. Sounded a lot like noise at first. But after "listening" to the music, the lyrics and the one of the tightest engineered albums from the last few years, I was impressed. They are called "Death From Above 1979" the album, "You Are Woman, I am Machine".
Gave the Carver Amps and my ugly pair of 10A's a workout.

John Mayer's "Heavier Things" recording on redbook CD just sounds like crap on my system - way over saturated on many tracks. I am surprised because he seems like an artist that would care about quality of the recording. His performance on Eric Clapton's Guitar Festival DVD is flat amazing in terms of performance (one of the best on a disk full of amazing stuff), and the quality of the recording which is excellent throughout. Maybe Mayer was having too much fun goofing around with his buddy Dave Chapple when he recorded "Things" and wasn't paying attention. It was so bad I was wondering if I ended up with a bootleg copy?!? I finally ended up selling it. His "Continuum" CD has much better fidelity (and material), but even there the recording quality is not up to the highest standards. Has anybody else noticed this? kn
