(Deleted text that was not so funny in light of what happened to Shane.)

Have not seen him in 3-4 days.

Was there a banjo-n-spooning festival somewhere?

    Justin,
I am writing you at the request of my friend Kim Roberts, Shane's best friend and room-mate.
Sadly on September 27, Shane passed away at home from a massive heart attack. Kim wants you to know this was Shane's favorite site and he enjoyed many hours here.
    Respectfully,
    Barbara Viamonte

[I of course asked Barbara if it would be okay to post this here, and she replied:]

    Micah,
...Please post this on the e-mail forum.
My friend Kim who I am writing this for was bestfriend, roommate and more with Shane for 15 years.
Needless to say she is devastated.
All of you meant so much to Shane and she says this was his favorite site.
    Respectfully,
    Barbara

[I have left Kim's email address intact, in case you'd like to send your condolences, as all of us at Polk Audio have done. Please do not abuse this sharing of private info. Shane was a fun and insightful member of this Polk family, and just the fact that there was a thread that noticed his absence is proof enough of that. -- Micah]

It's done Ron, here's what I said on the card:

With our deepest, heartfelt sympathy and condolences. The 'KING' as we knew him will be missed, but never forgotten.

-The gang from the Polk Forum

It wasn't expensive, and Troy offered to half it with me, but if anyone else wants to send more to 'mama', email me if you don't have the address. He was our brotha, I don't doubt for a second that he wouldn't do the same.

We should get a collection going for his family from his Polk Friends.

If we find an address please share.

Micah, can you coordinate an effort here? I'm not sure if its against company guidelines.

Russ has all the important contact info. I think it would be better if Russ coordinated any sort of collection, just to keep it non-corporate.

We here at Polk have expressed to Barbara our condolences and sorrow. We will all miss Shane here, I know. I'm happy [tho saddened of course] that Barbara has allowed us to share this here.

    Amen, hoosier, amen.

Russ is definately a first class guy. There have been other instances, for example when Bob McG's amp was stolen and others that Russ is always the first one offering to help out.

I'd also like to comment that it really speaks volumes about the sense of community on the forum. Call me a nerd, but this forum and the people on it mean a lot to me. Wendi sometimes kids me about the amount of time I spend on here BS'ing with my 'Polk Buddies'.

    Sorry to hear about Shane.
    Guess you never really know,
    probably better that way.

Near as I can tell this is Shanes last post.
I thinks it speaks for itself, as to what a good, down to earth, kind of guy he was.

The PSW150 is a good sub and probably has a better amp than the PSW350, so I think you are fine there.

The CS350LS is a great center channel. It was Polk's top of the line center when it was new. I had one and it is a nice piece.

The R10's will work good for you. I would put them behind the listening position.

The RT800i's are very nice speakers.

Unless you want to start putting a lot of money in a system, I wouldn't worry if the front and center speakers are not a perfect match. They will sound good together. Will the F/X300i or 500i make a huge difference? The 500's will make a pretty good difference, but not huge. IMO....I could sit down and watch a movie and be completely satisfied with your system. Could you make improvements, sure we all can if we want to shell out the coins.....

So, I guess what I'm saying is.....If you are looking to spend a lot of money on a HT, there are plenty of people here that will tell you how....I think what you have should make a VERY GOOD system that millions of people would love to have

Like I said, any and all here would do the same. Got your email ATC.

As soon as 1 more member steps up with a ten spot, the THIRD arrangement will be sent out...

Hows that for family? Good job guys. I'm sure his family will appreciate the 'outcry' of support....

I've talked to a couple members, and know I'm not the only one here thinking the INSANE.

Just wanted you all to NOT feel like toads if you are asking yourself 'the question'..... I'm sure Nascarmann would laugh his **** off.

Raise your glasses tonight, and spend some time with your rig, whatever it consists of.

    Cheers,

I'm sad because I've lost a friend but damn I laugh when I think about the KING WANNABE....
