Pioneer Elite VSX 84txsi

I am thinking about picking up This Pioneer Elite VSX 84txsi AVR. Any thoughts? I am really just wanting the PCM multichannel over HDMI and I can get a demo for $975.00.

    I am very happy with my Pioneer Elite. Lots of options for customization. I woul have no problems recommending one. If I were in the market, that would be a good enough deal to catch my attention.

    It's an excellent receiver with alot of abilities. Thats a great price to get into one. I think they sound very good with Rti series speakers as well. Good match.

    I'd make sure it has the updates(firmware) done, or beware on sending it in to an authorized repair shop first thing. There is a bass managment issue with HDMI. The issues are talked over extensively at AVS.

    I had the same issues with my 74. Otherwise, it's an awesome receiver! I'd grab it.

    OK. I pulled the trigger. The only thing I am dubious of is the video scaler but sound is numero uno for me. Reviews shall be forthcoming. I am curious to see how it stacks up against the Anthem D2 with the PCM multichannel on HD DVDs.

    Ok. Anyone here deal with this guy on Audiogon? He was supposed to send me the tracking number yesterday and I did not hear from him. He has a store and good feedback and he certainly was quick to respond before I paid him...

    oh man good luck, I would hate to see you get ripped off. If it's any comfort, audiogon's email is not getting to me, or you emailing him through audiogon's system or do you have his email address and doing it directly?

    have you tried the phone numbers in the ad? they have a great looking Audiogon rating, maybe your alright.

    That's what I am hoping for. I am calling first thing tomorrow. His last feedback was in 2006 though for such a fancy looking site.

    I wouldn't be so worried if he hadn't told me that he shipped it on Monday and when I asked for the tracking he said he was 'out of the shop ' and he would 'email it to [me] tomorrow'...Meaning Tuesday. Also it is not marked sold.

    I'm interested in your opinion on this receiver.

    I bought this receiver last november and auditioned it for 30 days.
    I liked all the features it had, but i was not satisfied with it's sound quality.
    I returned it and bought a outlaw audio model 990 pre pro.
    The outlaw was slightly better in sound quality than the pioneer elite but not by much. The outlaw audio was also returned within 30 days.
    I kept searching and auditioning other receivers and separates.

    I finally settled for the Marantz sr-8001. It was the only receiver that gave me great sound for movies as well for music.
    The only other manufacturer that sounded as good as the marantz was the Rotel rsp-1098 pre/pro. As you may already know, this pre/pro cost approx. twice as much as the marantz without the benefit of a 7 channel amp and thx select processing.

    All the gear you listed here is all great gear. THe speakers will sound there best on what matches them the best. Sometimes even higher end gear will sound worse then lower end gear on certain speakers.
    Matching is key here.

    Got it today. What a POS dealer. One freakin box and bubble wrap only so of course it's damaged!!!!!This is how he packs to ship from CA to FL!?!!!:eek: :eek: :eek: Even if it's insured UPS won't cover his half assed packing job. I have steam coming out of my ears! $1000.00!!!!!!!!:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

    Look closely . There is a dent in the receiver near the speaker terminals and the speaker terminals are bent:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

    I did already. I paid via Paypal with my credit card so what is my recourse? UPS won't cover this crap the way he boxed it...even if he did insure it will they?
