Heard about this movie trailer showing with the Transformers movie today on the radio. No title - no nothing. Just this trailer. Looks pretty damn good. Anybody know more about it?

I saw this during the Transformers movie...

At first I thought it was a comercial for a Gears of War movie --- but dont think so.

    Looks interesting though.

If I am not mistaken 1-18-08 is the name of the film.

    Check out the site http://www.1-18-08.com/

Doesn't really fill in any blanks, but I feel like it will be some viral marketing.

What the heck?! Two pictures on that sight? That's all I can see... to move around???

Is that a demon face in between the two girls?!? Looks like this could be a good sci-fi thriller... but really hard to tell anything from the dumb preview.

It's by J.J. Abrams from Lost who is making it. 1-18-08 isn't the name of the movie, it just doesn't have an official title, that the public knows of.

Whatever it is, it looks effing great! I love the whole feel of that trailer. Watching everything from afar. That roar is creepy as hell too. Wonder if its Godzilla 2?

I dont get the website tho. Whats up with that?

    **edit**

found a couple things on it

    http://movies.ign.com/articles/801/801593p1.html

    http://joblo.com/cloverfield-or-slusho

One says it could be shot entirely from the prespective of a camcorder like Blair Witch. I sure hope not. It looks very promising and that could ruin it.

Okay here is another website related to the trailer. This one has puzzles in it, once you solve the puzzles you get more info on the movie.

The "official" working title of the movie is actually "Cloverfield". JJ Abrams (as Demi said, the guy who does Lost) has said that the only official website "that people have found" is the 1-18-08 one.

Some more fun links for you guys.

A brief writeup on USAToday about the movie.

Speculation that this bizarre website could be related.

    The counterpart to ethanhaaswasright.com, ethanhasswaswrong.blogspot.com.

Link to the high-res trailer on Apple's website.

Saw the trailer as well. If the movie looks anything like the trailer, it looks really cheesy, very handy-cam type of filming, I hate that. Remindes me of that Blair Witch crapola.

    Odd....
I didn't see a preview for it when I went to see Transformers.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. I don't know, taking J.J. Abrahms word for it, I guess. He said that site has nothing to do with his movie. So, unless he's lying...

All signs seems to point to The Parasite so far, but even that is a total guess....

From what I read, he said he could not give that information, and as they are trying to keep it under total secrecy that is the way I would answer either way. From what my wife read, they actually have a slew of sites set up for you to find clues, most of which have not been found. So in all reality only he would know(as well as the people in on it).

He specifically told AICN that the Ethan Haas site has nothing to do with his movie.

Oh, just to back myself up:
    Dear Sir,

Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can't wait to talk to you more about it -- of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you'll know more than I will.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ****, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Stay cool the rest of the summer -- and thanks per usual for AICN!

    Oddly enough...

    www.slusho.jp IS a Cloverfield website.

This is a picture from the guy in the trailer, who is wearing a Slusho shirt, which is a product that doesn't really exist. It was something from Alias (J.J. Abrams)...

    slaushocloverfield2.jpg

This is all waaaay too much fun, which leads to major hype, so I hope this movie doesn't suck, whatever it is. Talk about building up expectations.

The writer of "Cloverfield", Drew Goddard, has done some Alias, Lost and some Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes.
