No tubes in my system--am I missing out?

Tubes Rule, so did you get some? The facts are there is certain linearity you can get with a vacuum tube you cannot with transisitors, this along with the possible voltage swings.......ahhhhhhhh who wants to hear all that stuff.......just listen to some and then get you some, unless your sitting on the kings gold I would go ahead and start small, say the Dodd ELP if you can find one, a few hundred bucks, not thousands like some of us knuckleheads, the Jolida integrated are nice, like the one Mark just sold in the FM.
There are just too too many tubed integrated and pre's and amps and sources not to take advantage of this part of audio.

Chris,
Just be warned that once you hear the sweet sound of tubes in your system there may be no turning back. That is really cool that Joey is going to bring his preamp over to let you check out. Let us know what you think.
Madmax hit on a point that Ive also notice with the tube rig, about the sound being satisfying even at low levels. I notice this late at night when everyone else in the house has gone to bed and I stay up to read and listen to music at low volumes. I end up getting pulled out of the book Im reading and just listening to the music. Even at low volumes the music is so involving its hard to concentrate on reading, all I want to do is listen. I never had that problem with my SS gear. Maybe I should read in the other room (naaaaa!).

I was perfectly happy with my SS equipment and had planned on keeping it for many years. That all changed the day I heard a tube. Its amazing how your possessions can seem prized one day and up for sale the next... Sold most of it and never looked back.
madmaxVinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...
