Maybe I just thought I read this or assumed that's what he meant. In any case, just wanted to help the guy out. He seems to be in a pinch and while his methodology for selling may not have been 100% PF kosher, I think it was far from persecutable.

Alright, I don't give a flying F*^k about the HK. It's the principal of the matter. In my first response to him he knew what he was getting into. He replied Yeah shipping to Canada was ok. He knew right then and there, I'd have an answer for him in less than 12 hrs. Now if you can't wait 12hrs for to find out if you get the $$ or not to then move on to the next person...well it says it all.

Good luck with your sale on your other product. (in a non sarcastic manner).

I understand both points of view here. But I don't think the guy should be accused of malpractice. And it certainly wouldn't deter me from buying from him, unless Darla is disappointed in the condition of the AVR when it arrives.

You two guys are missing the point here. A member in good standing expressed interest in the product, Ben agreed to ship to Canada for a higher price then without any notice just sold it to another. That part of this transaction was not handled properly. I think if Ben would have written to Willow and expressed his desire to get rid of the item PRONTO and he would have the money in hand much quicker than Willow could produce it then this would be a non-issue.

Like Demi said this is now an educational issue. Let the thread die.

I have read many posts by both Ben and Willow, both seem like real good people along with everyone else appearing in this thread. Without body language and all of the other subtleties that go along with face to face communication, written communications can be risky. I hope everyone comes through this remaining friends.

Ben said that he did need the money quickly, however, I don't think 24 hours is going to make that big of a difference.

I also don't think it would have been a stretch to maybe give Willow a shout: Hey buddy, I got someone live and local with COB....etc etc.

In the end, nothing egregiously (sp) wrong, however after the hissy he threw over CC not holding a demo TV for him?? C'mon, you can't have your cake and eat it too. I don't care to rehash that whole thing but he was pretty incensed over CC selling a TV out from under him.

For the above example alone, IMHO, he just climbed another notch on the Putz-o-meter.

You are totally missing the point :rolleyes: . It's about setting things straight for future transactions. What he did is not what the majority do around here or feel is in the spirit of "good will" as is generally the case. That's what this is about. In the end people can do whatever they want and can condcut themselves however they want, but if you go against the grain expect to get called on it.

Personally, I don't know Ben, he may be a great guy.

I do find it silly that on the one hand, he throws a **** fit over CC not holding a TV for him and then is surprised that he gets called out for doing an incredibly similar thing. I find it quite funny, actually, as he waxed poetically how where he's from in the wilderness of CT, a handshake deal was always good enough blah blah blah...

Had the whole CC thing never made the airwaves, I probably wouldn't think twice about it.

As a new guy myself, I find nothing more reassuring than knowing that the FM is a safe and secure place to do business... I don't know a whole lot about audio and what's good and what's not... so I rely on the feedback from the pro's here to keep me in line. While it may come across as brutal or beating down a newbie who is only interested in "Quick Money", there are reasons for the madness. Like somebody said above, it's not about a quick cash, or high dollar.. it's about a rock solid deal to keep it in the family.

I, for one, don't care if They (you know, THEM) come across as too harsh on us new guys...because I know it's for the safety of the FM.

I say, keep it up and keep our home safe!

Much like you felt that you were in the right, despite CC's black and white policy (and common sense I might add)...you weren't out anything either and I can see Willow's point as well.

Bottom line is, you feel like it is your item to sell as you please...which is fine except you didn't see that as being fair when CC exercised the same option.
