Is it something fixable? I'd hate to send it in if it's just something that happens every now and then with 360s. I remember the original xbox doing the same thing.

My original xbox did that, almost constantly by the end. Replaced with dvd drive from llama.com, and it never happened again. Weird its happening with the 360.

mine was flawless for more than a year, until the red rings showed up. I had it upright the whole time, if that makes any difference.

Btw, for those who get theirs back from MS, did you get yours or a different refurb one?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

That's a nice mod site. Maybe something to try when it's out of warranty. But the replacement dvd drives are $100 and $200 and you have to be able to flash the drive to lock it to your motherboard. Still, if the read errors ever get worse, nice to know there's an option rather than just replacing the whole box. Thanks.

Well, despite you being unable to answer my question, I'll answer anyways and assume you were talking to me.

To correct you, no, I am the dumbass that purchased a launch unit below retail cost, no tax, had it fail on me, and Microsoft send me my second unit at no additional cost to myself. Thats the dumb **** that I am.

he bought the 360 to play some good games. Why would he buy a system with no games that is reliable (well, you think it is, I haven't heard the best stories about the ps3 either)?

Even though reliablity should be a issue when making a decision, you buy a game system for, believe it or not, good games.

So since you ripped up on shizelbs for no reason, this is directed towards you. You are a complete dumbass to pay $600 on a blue-ray player.

Guys, in all seriousness, I don't think we need to be passing on judgement either way. It's just a console, for goodness sake. I enjoyed my xbox with all the games. I am sure I will enjoy PS3 and Wii too, given the time and money. It's all in fun. For me, if I have the time to play games more than I do now, I would buy all of them. No need to choose, since this is not an either or options. The same applies to Blue Ray/HD-DVD. It's just money.

On a separate note, Shelby and Demi, what game(s) are you on right now? Are you guys done with GOW?

when u buy a 360 purchase a replacement warranty for 50 60 bucks there usually good for 2 years u get to swap it out for a new 1 and u just loose the 50 or 60$ instead of the whole price of the 360 circuit city and best buy have this type of warranty you just have to keep the box in order to swap it out just my two cents

What games does the PS3 have that you can't get anywhere else? Resistance?

I love people who make the connection that since you don't like a certain high-priced item, it's because you must not be able to afford it..

So you have a theory when someone doesn't have something, the reason they don't is not cause they don't like it... but they can't afford it. hmmm, let me guess, you don't have the 360 cause you can't afford it...

To be perfectly honest I found the 360 launch to have better games than the PS3 and especially by this point of its life cycle. I own all three and my game list for the PS3 still sits at two. There just really isn't much at all as far as games for the PS3. It makes a much better Blu-ray player than a console at the moment in my house. Whereas I play my my 360 all the time and besides its really poor build quality I find it to be the best console I have owned.

When it comes to games out of the three current systems the PS3 would be my last choice at the moment.

Eh, don't let the fan boys get to you. Tell them how you feel and then ignore them. It works wonders. Why a guy can't start a thread about his 360 failing without a PS3 Vs. XBox 360 pissing contest starting is beyond me.

Yeah it is fun but I would compare it to Call of Duty 2 which I can honestly say I played more than I have have played Resistance. Don't get me wrong Resistance is a great game but Call of Duty 2 blew my mind when I first played it. (Not because of the graphics or anything like that but the gameplay.)
