Well it's over 6 feet tall, and when I send 300+ watts to it it starts jumping around, and I do mean laterally bouncing off the floor teetering back and forth. I was trying to cover the port with my hands, and when I let them off my buddy who was about 40' away said it felt like his ears were going to pop. Kinda like when you are coming down in a jet. I only ran a sine wave to it(TrueRta) so I don't know how its going to hit. Also it was in a 40*100 foot warehouse with 14 foot ceilings. The owner told me to turn it off cause it was hurting his head. My buddy suggested bolting it to the floor. As for SQ I have no Idea. The sub might as well been outside.

I have the kids, and don't have a safe place to put them. I don't know where my ear protection is either. Probably tomorrow night. Watching Ice age now. There is a lot of low level stuff I never heard or felt before. It digs real deep.

Well I got it in the house today, and some friends came over to see me. Of coarse they wanted to hear it. So my friends wife took the kids for a walk, and we proceeded to play one of those bass head Cd's. The guy tells me I assume no responsibility for any damage to your amp or sub woofer if you play this. So I play it. The thing was jumping around like a Mexican jumping bean. So one guy about 210 lbs goes over to try to hold it down so I can crank it. Doesn't work. So the bigger guy (250 lbs) goes over to to help him. Well both of them managed to hold it down by putting almost all of their weight on the thing. It sounded like a jack hammer when it was jumping during certain bass tracks. This sucker digs deep!

Any idaes on how to keep this thing on the floor other than bolting it to the floor, or not turning it up? I was thinking of pouring a 3" thick concrete round slab the diameter of the sub, and the sub to the slab with a rubber pad under the whole thing.

The Isobaric should be nice and controlled plus go an octave lower ..... from what I understand but that means its down -3db or too have two seperate 18's haha shhhaaazaaam Instant earthquake

If I knew this was going to happen I may have built a box to mount the sub in the side, and run the sonotube from the box. I have never seen anything like this. My 68 Bronco had two old Orion's in an Isobaric band pass that put out a ton of bass. the kind that makes your vision blurry, and your voice warble. This sonotube does the same. But your Idea of the ISO box sounds good. I have never felt bass this low in my life!

I would need to spend more on the lead than I did on the speaker:eek: Total cost was under $250. 35 for tube (used half), $166 for the driver plus shipping(sale), and I had the amp (850 watts clean at 4 ohms), wood, glue, and paint.
I will video tape this soon. how do I post a video?

I haven't had time to run music through it yet. Just some HT tracks, and those base disk that kids have. I guessing but I don't think that it will be as tight as I want for music, but then again I am very picky. My GF thinks I'm like Monk on TV:confused:

Yep, this will help keep it from jumping, but it will likely still "walk". rubber feet might keep it in place.

I am going to have to bolt the plates together. I had that in the plans, and a top plate(I already have them cut). I was in now hurry to put them on because I didn't expect it to jump like that. I am more than thriller with this thing for movies. I'm not sure about music yet. I will test that tonight.

Can't really tell by the pics, is the driver on the bottom? If so you could probably raise it higher off the ground to help with the bouncing.

The plans call for 3" legs, and the driver is on the bottom. If i raise it would it have any adverse effects on the sound? Originally I was thinking of building 2 of these, but no way! It feels like you are in a plane and dropped a 1000' in a second to my ears:eek:

OK I got the bottom plate on it now, and some foam tape. I know its kinda ghetto but I had some tape that you use when you mount a cap on a pickup. I covered about 70% of the plates surface. It stopped the jack hammer noise, and tightened things up a bit. now I need to get some time to hear some music.

Good. The only problem I am having is I am using an HK AVR-235 for a Pre Pro. I can not set the crossover manually for the sub. I have the front speakers set to 60hz (SDA-SRS). My mains put out good bass, but I wanted to take some stress off of them for HT. I am having a problem with resonance with the sub. The program I used didn't call for any foam, or poly fill. So I don't know if its the fault of the sub or if its do to a possible 12db crossover in the HK. This is looking like a good excuse for getting an Outlaw 990 with better bass management, and a 24db crossover:D. Now I just need to come up with $1150 for the Pre Pro.:( I had the woofer going so low today that pieces were falling from my drop ceiling. Also one of the problems is paneling in the room:mad: I can't do anything about the paneling because I don't own the place. Well back to the music. Fleetwood Mac

As I thought. Lame pre for sub control. The HK would work nice with powered sub amps that have built in crossovers, but not for straight amps. Curve was very disappointing. I think my port is way to short!
