Nothing is wrong with any of it. SDAs are but a small area in the world of speakers. Time to move on.

Strata Mini, Tyler Acoustics, Salk, Odyssey - lots of speakers out there.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Yawn. Sure there's lots of speakers out there, but there's nothing like a good set of SDA'sPolitical Correctness'.........defined

I'll have to say speakers also; you have great gear. No, there's nothing wrong with a pair of SDA's; they are great speakers and fun to listen, but there are so many others out there that can give you a different "side" of music._________________________________________________

What exactly are you dissatisfied with?
You know, different strokes for left handed people but put me in the camp of if you have something you like, why eff with it?
In terms of SDA, yeah, there is other stuff out there. Some of it MAY be better., however, I don't get the backlash that's popping up around here against SDA's. In my travels, I've found speakers that do some things better than SDA's, however, unlike SDA's, I've found few that didn't have some sort of achilles heal.
Personally, I think some of the backlash is an attempt to be seen as avante guard. Me, I'm done chasing gear. I like my SDA's and feel justified in saying that you'd be hard pressed to show me a speaker that could embarass them.

That's some great gear. What's the problem with it? If its upgrade fever just go get a cheap AVR and cheap speakers then fall back in love with your gear.

I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
I also agree with these 3. There will ALWAYS be something new out there to explore, but if you are satisfied with what you have now, why mess with it?
I heard the SDA's at PF2005 & they were terrific & years ahead of their time. They had surround sound before it was ever officially invented! If I had the room...scratch that I don't have the brawn to move them!:o But you get the idea!I'm with Troy, Jesse, and Joe.

So get a pair of CRS+'s or 2B's....not much heft, and to be honest they are pretty awesome.

Are you dissatisfied at all? OR, do you just think that because everybody on this forum appears to need the ultimate in sound reproduction, that you need to follow suit?
It appears to me you already own some very desirable equipment. -
If I had that gear, you would be hard pressed to get a smile off of my face at any time.....Cary makes some great looking stuff though...
-
there's nothing wrong with trying something different, but to be considerred an "upgrade" you would have to spend ALOT of money to upgrade from the SDA 2.3tl.
thats a solid system you have there already, but this is one of those situations that you have to take everyone's advise, but forge your own path.
If I had that system, I might very well be tempted to try different speakers, but only if I didnt have to sell the SDA's. Thats a speaker you hold onto, even if your not using it. you dont sell a speaker like that unless your ABSOLUTLY sure you will never use it again.
I went through the same thing with my Carver Amazings. I moved to a pair of AR9's, would'nt call it an upgrade, just wanted to try something different. They just seem to fall perfectly with my preferences moreso than the Carver, but I still havent sold the Carver's. see what I mean?
while I have no experience with the pre and amp you have, I'm going to wage an educated guess and say what would be considerred a "significant upgrade" in speaker would a) cost a sh*tload, and b) probably require you to upgrade amplification (pre as well) to get the most out of that significant investment. with this in mind, my vote is with the Cary gear, since that would seem to be an "upgrade".
change speakers when you want to try something different, hey, I've done it, but for the "upgrade" my vote is with the Cary gear.
that said, George has a good point. Make sure your doing this to find better sound, not because you want cool gear like othersLiving Room 2 Channel -

Obviously anyone listening to SDA's needs to move on. (Said in a joking tone). I wouldn't give that a second thought. Those SDA's will benefit from an electronics upgrade as well as any other. Man, I'm eyeing that amp. Super cool!

Edit: I don't know where you are with cables, wires and power conditioning but they may be an option too. Sometimes its amazing how much a cable can hold back the potential of an otherwise top notch system.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
You could mod the Jolida ala H.R.A.M. or Underwood. If you are a DIY'r look up F1nut's AA Top Fuel Dragster mod. It all starts at the source IMHO.
IMHO - That Cary gear is beautiful.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Amen George, AMEN!!!!
Being in this environment is somewhat infectious. You see everyone & their brother ranting & raving about their new gear & soon you're thinking that you need to try something new.
But I've looked at how many newbies are joining with vintage speakers or one of us regulars discovers how well our vintage speakers sound with a change in electronics or adding an amp & Then I realize that I have a damn good system & just enjoy it!
It's no crime to enjoy what you've got.:DGeorge Grand wrote: »Are you dissatisfied at all? OR, do you just think that because everybody on this forum appears to need the ultimate in sound reproduction, that you need to follow suit?

wanting to change stuff is part of the hobby. some of us search for something we will never find. I say we can spend money on dumber things (hookers and blow would make that list )
but enjoying what you have should be apart of it too. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm at a place where i'm pretty happy with what I got. Maybe cable experimentation down the road. I recently got a Monster HTS 5100 for the 2 channel rig, because I swear I got power issues in my basement.
as happy as I am with my gear, I might try something down the road, I keep saying I want to try a passive pre, eh, I'll do it when I feel like it.
point is, some are going to chill with what they got, and some wont. it's just the name of the gameLiving Room 2 Channel -

I'm just now starting to listen past the equipment or medium and enjoy the music. I have a lot of LPs and CDs and some just sound awful but the music on them is wonderful and I am now hearing the music. Of course when critical listening kicks in there is nothing a poor soul can do!!!LOL

I'd vote for modding the Joilida. I have a modded unit, amazing what $300-350 will do for your sound.
If you do change speakers, make sure to do some in-home auditions before changing.Review Site_ (((AudioPursuit)))
