For years I wanted to add someone to monitor and participate in other forums, blogs, etc. on behalf of Polk. No hard selling but answering questions, clearing up confusion about or misrepresentation of Polk and Polk products.

In thinking about qualifications for the position, I came up with these (in order of importance): 1] Must already enjoy participating in bulletin boards and forums, 2] Must be knowledgeable of audio, 3] Must know Polk and its products. I’m thinkin "now where would I ever find someone like that?" Duh.

About a month ago, I called a local Club Polkster, Mark, to see if he knew anyone on the forum who lived near Baltimore. No one came to mind but I asked him to think about it.

Days passed before he called back. Would I be interested in an experiment where one or two forum guys would answer questions for us? After some thought, I decided it would be worth a try.

So…to make a long story short, I have arranged for Dorokusai and RussMan to try this for a test period. I am not asking them to be company stooges. They will continue to do what they been doing except maybe being a bit kinder and more helpful to those trying to find their way and spreading good will.

As for this forum, they are just one of the guys (and gals) and free to behave as they always have. (Sorry Justin)

i already place some of the responsibility on myself to aways set the record straight while using other forums when people are uninformed when it comes to Polk Audio and it's products. I imagine quite of few other's do as well.

That's a good idea to get a few of the members involved with it.

Thanks Al :D We're very excited to be a part of the Polk Family and certainly look forward to helping wherever we are needed.

Does this mean we'll have a Polk signal, kinda like a "bat" signal, that will alert us? That way we can quickly don our Polk gear and jump into action.

You guys sold out too cheap. Should have held out for the SRT system and a Lear jet.

Cathy - User forums such as AVS, HTF, Circuit City, etc. We're trying to provide a level of support for Polk products similar to what you would find here, but elsewhere. I've definetly noticed that not everyone knows about Club Polk, although they should :), and that not everyone wants to surf or join more than a couple forums. If Polk can become actively involved with other communities, it should result in a positive benefit for the company and brand name.

Toby - 12V isn't being forgotten and is something that we'll help support as well. I know I have a crash course in store for me, on this product line, in the very near future.

This is going to be a VERY good thing. Good for Polk, good for myself and Mark, and good for the members of Club Polk.

The times and products are different, but I feel like we are all entering what will be another golden age for audio and audio technology, that will be as big, if not bigger and have the impact that the 50's and 60's had.

    Cheers,
    Russ
