Denon PMA-2000R for $499. Everytime these come up for sale they don't last long. I've been wanting to try one for a long time, and each time one comes up for sale I've either just bought another amp or I can't spare the cash.
I was purchasing a high end Alpine car audio deck from a guy in Ann Arbor, MI. As it turns out he had just finished his Pre-Med degree at U of M and was going on to Med School. When I walked into his place there was a BIG two channels system that got my attention and caused some excitement. It had a Nakamichi front end, w/ The Dragon tape deck, big Denon monoblocks, and KEF 107 towers. He put on The Dave Brubeck Quartet 'Take Five' track and I was floored by the time it got to the drum solo. The depth, clarity, and punch of the kick was as if they were in the room. One of my early exposures as a young adult to higher end stuff.
It would be cool to have these for old time sake!

Only if I were in a position to move on them. I've wanted to try monoblocks since forever! I think the guy actually had the 6600's. I seem to remember him saying he had about 500 watts to each speaker.
Back to reality... I'm currently putting together a budget music system ran by a simple all-in-one streaming amp I just picked up. I'm thinking about building one of the GR-Research speaker kits or trying the Elac Uni-Fi 2.0.
However, one can dream a little. How cool would it be to have those 6600's powering the massive DIY Statement II towers I've wanted to build since forever? I hope to find out one day....unfortunately, no time soon.

It would really put the 'H' in Hobby for me. I like doing things with my hands, I built models as a kid and was always fixing and tinkering around the house. As an a young adult building car audio systems for myself and others fulfilled my creative interest in cars, electronics, and audio. Today, I mostly buy broken cheap electronics and repair them and work around the house. I Need To Build Some Speakers, Doggonit!

I have too many nice towers as it is. I just listened to my BP30's and they sound GREAT too. I know they should be away from the wall. But that will come later.
I sold a great pr. of Polk LS90's and put the BP30s in their place. I like the sound I just heard so I'll have to pass. Just like the OPPO 205 I had a chance to buy but waited too long. When I thought, sure order the OPPO now, my ability to purchase it "slot" had expired.

Tubes are 19th century technology.
They are actually 20th century tech, as are solid state amps... My Tubes would give your Pass X600's a run for their money.

If I lived close to Omaha I would have the sub and amp. That amp sounds great if working at full potential.Yep, my name really is Bob.
Parasound HCA1500A(indoor sound) and HCA1000(outdoor sound), Dynaco PAS4, Denon DP1200 w/Shure V15 Type V and Jico SAS stylus, Marantz UD7007, Polk L600, Rythmik L12 sub. -
I had that Energy sub and if I were anywhere near Omaha I would be all over that, if its working properly that'd be the best $20 you ever spent.
