Look Here for the fixed, media type humidifier. I recommend the "upflow" model.

    Hi Ricardo!

I have to ask, the foil backed insulation on the top side of the basement wall, is the insulation for the above grade portion of you wall?

I owe you information on the humidifier. Basically, a solenoid valve opens a water valve when the furnace fan motor kicks on. The water flows down a ceramic media inside your hot air duct exiting the furnace. The excess water that is not evaporated collects and drains out to a floor drain (just like the condensate on your AC cooling coil).

Wall looks good! Keep up the good work!

The whole wall is below grade; not sure why the builders insulated only 1/2 of it, though I am leaning towards cost.

Thanks for all the humidifiers info.

I believe code only requires you to insulate 3' below grade. Below 3' you are then below the frost line and the earth is actually in the mid 50's F. It can only help to insulate below.
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

i was thinking of RealTraps, or something homemade along those lines. You may also want inquire about a product called QuietRock, sound deadening drywall. Comes in various levels, if your budget allows.

My plan is to use panels from GIK; have good feedback and seem to be one of the cheaper (if not the cheapest) in the market. After finishing the room I will be done with DIY for a long while, so will buy them.

I'll use normal drywall with the green glue; this should be enough for my needs.

    Thanks!!

Framing and electrical done; during the week I'll build the box for the sump pump, and Saturday is drywall day. Should finish the ceiling this weekend, and depending on how much work I can do during next week, walls might be done a couple of weeks from now.I think I'm going to beat the 2 month target.

Update; have been busy with other things (why do we need to work?????). This week I resumed with the room and am done with drywall.

First layer of walls; used caulk to seal corners, wall/ceiling and wall/concrete:
    IMG_3406.jpg

    IMG_3407.jpg

    IMG_3409.jpg

    Starting second layer:
    IMG_3410.jpg

Second layer DONE. Green glue used between both layers; continued with lots of caulk to seal everything:
    IMG_3413.jpg

    IMG_3414.jpg

    IMG_3415.jpg

    IMG_3416.jpg

I will use textured paint everywhere (popcorn on ceiling and sand texture on walls), so I decided NOT to do tape/mud. Just caulk. Paint will cover any imperfection.

Still need to build the box for sump pump, but will do after I finish painting.
    Still on track!!!!

Don't forget to run 3 dedicated 20 amp circuits to your stereo!
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

One dedicated 15 amp. I thought about using a 20, but when I finished the other side of the basement I pre-wired with AWG 14 for this "studio" room....not good for 20 amp.

And.....we all know 15 amp is enough :)

I know; was thinking on adding an external DAC, but it sounds so good it doesn't need it ;)

Just a couple things to consider -

Caulk will generally open up over time and could show your seams.

Without mud, the tapered edges of the drywall will show, probably even through textured finish.

    Great work by the way.

Did you HAVE to say it???

I know. I thought about that, but:

1.-I will NOT do any more drywall finishing again in my life. I still have dust in some places from the last time.
2.-Don't want to spend the extra money in having it done.
3.-There will be so much coverage with panels that there will be little wall/ceiling to look at.
4.-I will be busy listening to some tunes.
5.-I am not doing it for anyone to come evaluate it...I could as well leave it as is
6.-Do I sound like I'm trying to justify myself???

    :)
