With all this talk about Tyler Acoustics lately, Ive done a little research on their multilpe line of speakers. I was wondering if anyone had the opprotunity to listen to the Linbrook Signature's? What a beautiful speaker! Also, on their website it doesnt say what size drivers are used in the speaker. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance..

Josh

Which of them? I'm listening right now to the Linbrook Signature System (one piece), and don't think I'll be wanting to change them for a looooong time. These have two 8" bass drivers and two 7" mid drivers.

Those are the exact ones I am referring to. How do they sound? How is the bass? Im in love with the looks of the speaker! If you dont mind me asking, how much did ya dish out? I think Ive already changed my mind about buying the Lsi15's and going with these sight unheard!! Im really diggin' the Maple finish. Is there any difference in the sound from the one piece to the two piece?

They sound too good; bass is sick. Tyler lists used speakers once in a while in Audiogon.
He also has a "lower end" series, the "Freedom" and there's one speaker that uses what seems to be the same cabinet and is priced significantly lower....similar drivers (or so they look), but use the Vifa tweeter vs. the Seas Millennium. I wonder how different the sound is, and what else makes the price so different...

I have always loved the look of those SEAS drivers as well, but not having ever heard metal drivers before makes me leery. It may just be my preconceived perception, but I would think they would be harsh, hard edged, cold, and not natural sounding.

Exactly my initial thinking; I heard metal drivers for the first time with a pair of Monitor Audio speakers that "visited" me for a couple of months. Since then, I have no concerns whatsoever.

Ty has a list of owners that might allow you to demo their stuff. Give him a call if no one is listed in your area - he may be able to hook you up w/ someone?

HTrookie -- you have a pair of my dream speakers. If I had the space and money, I would have purchased them a long time ago. I haven't heard them, but I'm guessing you'd have a hard time finding a better speaker at any price. Glad you got a chance to get them.

    Enjoy.

The Seas Excel midbasses are smooth as silk. Their bass response is also phenominal.

The main difference between the Freedom line up and the others is

The Freedom uses 70 dollar midbasses and a 50 dollar tweeter.

The Taylo line up uses a 200 dollar tweeter and 175 dollar midbasses. And so on...

Early, you can have them; sell a few things and wait for a used pair to be available; drive to KY and save a little more ;)

The 7u will be my mains for a long time.

There isnt much I would change about them.
But maybe one day if I come across some spare change - the Super Towers will be mine.

Does Ty have any demo rooms there in Ky? Not a long trip for me to audition a few of his offerings.. When you say save some money by driving to Ky and getting them are you referring to a price deduction or simply saving shipping?

Sid, I check out those different drivers you posted.. Couldnt one simply purchase the Freedom F-5 and replace all of the drivers and crossovers and save thousands?

I was looking at the one piece signature a few days ago. A very nice speaker as others have noted, I dont think I can swing the 5k bill for them though.

    Not really...

Lets see - the *best* Ty will do on the Freedom F5 is around 2,500

So lets see... Theres about 2 grand in parts in the Signature series.

And considering the port will be different, thats another 40 bucks...

Not to mention, Ty does a fantastic job designing/tweaking his crossovers. Nothing you could make would probally touch it... Also forgot to mention that the cut outs are different for the drivers :)

I would love to compare the Freedom line up to the LSi line up. They are direct competitors for sure.

The Taylo line up is fantastic though - I wish I had a better room to let them breath more. Effortless is the best word I got... clean, clear, detailed, you name it... my rig will definitely benefit from a tube preamp though.

Get the 7u with the Millennium tweeter.

You dont NEED those woofers man.

The 7u digs deep, authoratively to 40hz (if not lower) - I cross my sub over at 40hz and the blend is seamless.

That certainly is a possibilty.. It will be quite sometime before I buy any speakers. Around a year Id say.. Ty may be offering something totally different by then that may catch my eye and ear.

Possibly. Hes had his current line ups over 5 years.

I did the 6 month layaway and Ty gave me what I would call a good deal. I like the fact you can get any finish you want.

You cant go wrong, Ty is all about customer service and making you happy. Great communication and offers quality products.

The Taylo Reference Monitors are an amazing value, especially used. When I had those in my main system, I believe I converted a DJ towards the ways of 2ch hifi - he was in awe of the imaging and soundstage. So was I.

I briefly owned the Linbrook Signature monitors, unfortunately those did not thrive in the same system as the Taylos did. However, I will refrain from passing judgment on them as I know my setup at that time had problems dealing with large speakers. Case in point, my Legacy Signature III didn't sound great in that setup either until I made drastic changes to the room acoustics & amplification (changes that are still underway). I would like to have another chance to listen to the Sigs in my new setup; not that I'm looking to replace the Legacy anytime soon but I'd like to see what the Linbrooks are capable of (and I'm sure they're capable of a lot) so that I could recommend them with confidence.
