Just coming back a while ago from Owensboro, KY. Picked up my speakers and met Tyler. Wonderful guy to talk with. I looked around his shop..cabinet building, parts storage, finishing area, etc. Guess what...I DID NOT TAKE A CAMERA

Still need to unpack them and hook them up; will report later and put up some pictures.

BTW, George Daniel.....he showed me YOUR cabinets...I threw something in them that will rattle forever ;)

Back later.

    Welcome back:confused::D
Hope you enjoyed the drive. Maybe I'll be able to catch you when you pick up your second or third set.

    Owensburg?:D
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. No worries... I always want to think that Owensboro is in Owen County. But I am often corrected on this matter. Usually over a few beers.

Ricardo.. I am commanding you to get off the Forum and break-in those bad boys:D And pics, pics, pics....

They....sound...awesome....tightest bass I've ever heard. It's "different", but you hear it and you just know that's the way it's supposed to sound.
Highs have a level of detail you would not believe is possible. Those millennium tweeters are something out of this world. I'm still evaluating the mid range...
One thing it jumps at me....I think the TAD's are having a hard time driving them; they are supposed to have an efficiency of 92db, but with two of them I need to turn volume higher than I had to for the 3.1's with only one. It does sound very very very good, but it just surprises me. Ty said that they were not even broken in (they are used), so this could be contributing? Or, maybe they sound sooooo nice that I can listen at higher volumes without any fatigue?? Don't know. I'll just second Trey's comment: Blind buy is not an issue with Tyler.

    HT...

My amp needs about (-8db more on my preamp to get them to my volume) - which is about 0 to -6db on the B&K. I normally listen at -12.

My Khartago isnt really "struggling" per say. It definitely isnt giving out. But the Stratos Extreme will do much better.

Oh yeah, CONGRATS! We need pics!

And Tyler is all over the boards now!

I'm from a town about 30 miles away from Owensboro, but I never heard of any high end speaker manufacturer from there, until I purchased my Polks last year and joined this forum.

Now, I'm excited to go home in a couple of weeks and check it out. Do you have an address? I have family that lives in Owensboro, so I have a good excuse to go visit.

Thanks for all the comments. There's one thing I need to try and one thing I need to do before I can say I'm inNirvana (at least for a long while):

-Try: see how they sound with the Belles Reference.

-Do: room treatments; I've a "plan" to build a dedicated audio room in a portion of the unfinished basement, but I don't see that happening in the short-mid term. I NEED to at least put something in the back wall, and an area rug. Will start researching what would be a good material for the walls.

Get a nice avacado and/or brown-orange shag carpet to tame the HF tones and scare your wife and kids away from your stuff:D

If you meet a Polkie, bring a freaking camera. I know I regret not having a picture of me with ole' Shack when he visited me awhile ago.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
