I was just wondering if anyone here uses one of those amp stands that eliminate vibration going to their amp and if so does it make any difference to the amps performance. Probably a dumb question but who knows. Thanks.

I have never heard of such a thing... It doesn't seem to me that it would make a difference, but I have been wrong before.

Lots of people us amp stands. Often the amps are extremely heavy and people do not put them in racks. I for one am considering 2 of them to accommodate 2 heavy monos.

I was going to use two amp stands in addition to my rack when I had my tube amps. More so for ventilation than weight.

Here's another in Canada. I have recently purchased some brass spikes for the Proacs from this guy. His stand look pretty good and he will customized them to your dimensions.

although a tweak, a good amp stand or shelf is a necessity in trying to get all your gear has to give.

Vibration damping devices may or may not make a difference/improvement depending on how well the manufacturer has implemented vibration damping(if any) in the construction of the component. I have had components where vibration damping tweaks made a significant improvement and I have had very solidly built components where such tweaks made no audible improvement.

Another thing to consider is the stability of the floor under the amp. A vibration prone floor could negate any positive effects of a good amp stand.

One other thing to consider. Some manufacturers tune their electronics case to resonate at a certain frequency so as not to interfere with the circuitry. You mess with that and you could muddy up the sound coming out of that component.

Case in point; I completely deadend my preamp's outer case with a load of sorbothane pods and sheets. When I listened it sounded like pure mud!!!Horrible! I removed the dampening materials and viola, back to normal. Now isolating the case from vibrations is a different story all together.
