People should post on the deals that they capitalize on......I'm always interested in seeing how much people actually want to save on stuff vs. paying full retail price.

4/16/07 - DEAL OF THE DAY - Pepboys (BRICK AND MORTAR ONLY)

95¢ for 5 quarts of oil PLUS a pair of Mechanix Gloves – PepBoys – After MIRs

Copying this right from a deal site:

Valvoline oil has a promotion going, buy 5 qts of certain oil, and get a free pair of Mechanix Gloves, msrp $25. Here's a scan of the promo. Note that they require an original form, I called them at 800-832-6825 option 4 and they sent me out a few promo forms.

Last Sunday this ad ran in the LATimes. It has Valvoline oil, usually $2.99 a quart, at $1.49/qt with coupon. The ad also says there's a 50 cent MIR per qt, bringing the net down to 99 cents per quart. I figure that both the Mechanix Glove deal and the rebate will require proof of purchase so it'll be one or the other. That means that the gloves will cost $2.50 in lost MIR potential, not a bad deal for the gloves.

So I go and buy 5 quarts for $7.45 with the coupon. The CSR then hands me this rebate form. It has a $1.30 MIR for the oil, limit 5 qts., with no proof of purchase required other than a copy of the receipt. So both the glove deal and the MIR are do-able!

The net cost for 5 quarts of oil and the pair of Mechanix Gloves comes out to a total of 95 cents!

Note that it looks like any print out of the MIR will do, but the glove deal requires an original offer form, easily obtained by calling Valvoline. I called and they said that the only major retailer not participating in the glove deal is Advantage Auto Parts.

Not sure if the PepBoys deal is nationwide, so YMMV. The PepBoys site does have all local ads, so search for your 'hood. In Hollywood they had stacks of coupons by the door, it looks like coupons printed online may also work. Check the oil to make sure it's listed on the glove form. Glove promo good through 7/31, oil rebate good through 4/21.

    Good luck, and good wrenching!

I did. Ordered 2 of those "German-STYLE" knife sets, too.

Figured they'd go quite well with my other "metal-STYLE" cutlery. :)

I've purchased quite a few "cheap"(under $10) knife sets before and they alll break. None of them had the metal blades that go the entire length of the handle......they were always plastic handles.

These suprisingly have metal blades that go the entire length, and they feel pretty sturdy. Let me know what you think when you get them. For $3.47 cant go wrong. Especially since you get a badass meat cleaver. :D

Not a sale price, but a heck of a price on a good laptop.

I have yet to take the plunge (my girl would kill me if I bought anything else at this point), but I have heard 30-40 good reviews over on the hardocp forums, so I will definitely be pulling the trigger on this soon. Tough to find a laptop for under 1k that has a 17" screen, decent video card and at least a gig of ram and a dual core processor......much less for $700, and more importantly NO REBATES.

Everex has supposedly been around since the 80's.

Here is the forum I mentioned earlier with about 18 pages of feedback from people who have bought it. Sounds like a good deal anyway. [H]

    Well, we got 'em.

The only person who was very disappointed was the UPS guy, who was grunting like a stuck pig lugging the box up the sidewalk. :)

The knife set is very solid, full tang as you mentioned. The edges ....may we call them edges ? :) .... left quite a bit to be desired. Sharpened them up and they'll do just fine. Especially at the price.

Nice iron skillets, too. I'm still looking for a big-ol'-fatty iron skillet for cheap, but my son cooked up some burgies in one tonight, and .... mmmmm ......
........ ANYTHING cooked in an iron skillet tastes better, IMO.

So .... I guess everyone else has become bored crapless with our iron skillet / knife set rant, but thanks for that heads-up.

Have to get a big one for fried chicken .... with TATERS ! :)

Haha (about the knives). That's probably why they include the sharpening one as well, but they really aren't bad for $3.47.

I am going to season my iron skillets this weekend on the BBQ and figure I will try them out Saturday night. The skillets also seem sturdy for that whopping $7 price tag. :D

Oh and about the UPS guy, mine is hilarious, he keeps wondering why I receive about 3-5 packages from Staples a week lol.......and he knows the drill he doesn't even carry it to my house front door(up stairs), he brings it by my front door on the side so he can just back up the track and drop it off.

$13.88 for shipping to here in the Midwest.

About $85 for 1, so a pair will go for about $170.

    Not bad.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, the deals have been ice cold unless you want to use multiple coupons and rebates.
