I thought it was a nicety too that is why I upgraded my SL 3000 on my 1.2 TLs to the RD0198s. I wanted newer drivers but I must say the RD0s sound sweeter than the SL 3000 not that the SL 3000 were harsh or brassy the RD0s are just more mellow. After about 30 hours of break-in it started becoming evident.
agree and agree. With old sl drivers they can become scratchy/harsh. My 3000's on my 3.1TL's sound great. My 3000's on my RTA15TL's sounded crappy. Every time I do an upgrade on my SDA-SRS's I am floored that they just keep getting noticable better, and better. My GF is upset that I ruined music for her. She only wants to hear it at my house. Now to try that sunfire amp vs adcom comparo.

How about that!!! Why wouldn't one take the good advise given here and steal it at the time for $1200. That is $1575.25 more than what I paid for a mint under 50 hour pair. DUUUUUHHHHHHH!!!!

The buy it now option goes away after the first bid. That should make shaggy a happy camper. I bet he wishes he had a couple more pair to sell now lol.

as i said in another post somewhere else its hard to beat the value on some of the older speakers. What else are you going to buy today for $2500.00 that sounds as good, has as large a sound stage and will continue to go up in value?

the last pair of regular sda srs went for $1800.00 I believe on ebay. They had extras a nad amp and tuner etc but still a nice price for a set of very nice speakers. because some of us got ours cheaper is no true indication of value. I got mine for $600.00 but I literally stole mine. REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I can't believe I did'nt see the listing on these until it was posted here...after the first bid had been placed.

I do a search everyday on e-bay for SDA's,"Polk SDA" The guy did'nt have SDA in the title of his sale,so it did'nt show up.

He had it listed Polk SRS...oh well...I really was'nt in the market anyway, but it does look to be that $1200. was indeed a steal.

I do a search daily for "polk", and I have to weed through all the crap, but I don't miss much. For $1200 you could have bought them, and sold them for $1800 easily. This guy made $1375.25 over his buy it now.

Regardless of what they went for $1200 is always a steal for SRS 1.2 TLs especially now-a-days when the general population is beginning to find out how great these speakers are.

I just, with my chest puffed out, told my wife how much these sold for and how I got a mint, under 50 hour, pair for only $1500 on epay. If I include the travel expenses $1700 but I won't count that expense cause me and my 23 year old son got to spend 18 uninterupted hours with each other when we drove to North of Boston to pick them up.

Yep,I usually do a "Polk" search on the weekend when I have the time...through the week,I cheat and do the SDA search.

I had the seller send me some pics, and to be honest, they were pretty rough, binding posts were snapped off, several "rough" spots here and there.

It will take some work to get them back into mint condition.

Hope the new owner is not disappointed,I would say that they paid a "premium"

Wow....that's an insane price for a pair in that condition.

If my 3.1's don't sell here I might try ebay

this is a model 92 EMI speaker. It looks virtually identical to the one in the ebay ad except this has a single coaxial driver in the cabinent, and the driver is much larger than the one in the pic there. it is a roughly 13" oval driver with a cast frame and I would guess a 10lb or so alnico magnent. I agree with the possibility of a default. If I were serious about these, I would put him on the Favorite sellers list with email, instant message and all the bells and whistles to get notified if he relists. He will be desperate to unload them before he leaves the country unless he goes to the second chance winner. IMHO.
