Be careful, it will void the factory warranty. I recently purchased a great set of polk momo mm6 car speakers (which rock!) but the down side was that one of the drivers was missing the speaker terminal bolt. As soon as the customer service rep found out they were not purchased from factory authorized dealer, they were less than helpful.

I've called Polk customer service about a set of over 16 year old speakers and I am the second owner and they were more than willing to help me and even gave me a Club Polk forum member discount on the parts. I've had other occasions to speak with their customer service center and I find them to be one of the best if not the best customer driven companies in the world.

A voided warranty aside I think they are the tops.

I'm having a hard time understanding the relevancy of your post as it pertains to the auction for the SDA 1.2TL speakers as they were last produced in 1991-1992. The factory warranty ran out long ago.

As for your situation, everyone knows that buying from an unauthorized seller voids the warranty. However, I'm sure Polk will sell you the needed part.

Almost clicked BIN on the above E-Bay listing, but slowly counted to ten and
refrained. I currently have 2.3's and am trying to decide if I should upgrade to 1.2 or 1.2TL's or simply upgrade existing 2.3's to the newer tweeters. Very pleased with the 2.3's, but I may not know what I'm missing. There is a lot of expertise on this forum and I would appreciate any comments, good or bad.

    Thanks, from a newby.

Just keep your speakers and upgrade. 1.2's are overrated....no offense to the owners of course :)

I just looked at it, hardcore. I love that the Bugatti name is finally coming back into the picture. They always show well at Concours and its nice to see something fresh and killer from an old school manufacturer.

I've been keeping my eye on these too. I'm two hours east of Columbia and Mike's two hours west. I emailed the guy and he sent me a couple more pictures. These are not perfect on the outside but my best guess says the cabinets seals and speakers are probably in good working condition. They have been moved at least a couple of times. He says his wife ran candle wax down the back of the right speaker, so the label is peeling and the back doesn't look all that good. One grill has a spot on it and he already mentioned the broken binding posts. I agree with Mike, If they go for less, I'll consider them.
I'll add the guy's comments and pic's in another post.

Here are the pic's the owner emailed me along with his comments.

"The speakers are in good shape...no holes or
tears. There is some kind of residue on the bottom of
one grill. I am sure it was some kind of liquid but I
have done nothing to try to clean it. it is
superficial at most. I have had the speakers for about
12 years I got them from the wife of a friend of mine
that passed away. The lugs were broken when a
decorative plate of my ex wifes fell off the wall and
snapped the lugs. You can see there is still threads
left for a hardware fix or as I do just plug banana
connectors directly into the lugs from the front. I do
not have the original interconnect cable but after
talking to Polk I made my own as it is simply a
speaker wire with special ends. It works just fine.
The residue on the back of the right speaker was a
candle that overflowed down the back of the cabinet
making the lable peel and leaving the shiney look in
the photo. Thank God no wax went down the front or I
may have killed her..lol. The speakers sound great and
yes I would be happy to help you load them yourself. I
warn you it will fill the back with the middle seats
down! Let me know if you have anymore questions."

A lot of people upgrade the post anyways. I think there is no crossover on the 1.2 cups anyway. Easy job/forced upgrade. Anyone want to pick them up for me and bring them to GA Polk Fest?

Mine were in mint condition and I paid $1500 for them so < $1200 would be an okay price, < $1000 would be better of course. I drove over 700 miles round trip over 18 hrs to pick mine up. They are worth it. Forget about the "if they are less than $1000, I'll take them." You're lucky they are only a two hour drive away, I see that as an opportunity to snag some really great speakers. Go for it then do the repairs/upgrades and then you really have something special.

Please people I am trying to upgrade from R50's and R30's. Nothing is within a 200 mile radius of me. I am trying to move up to SDA's but everything is in Georgia(947 miles round trip) or further. If they were closer I would snatch them up. hearingimpared is correct

How could ANYONE write an auction like that? He has probably scared away 50% of potential buyers simply by that tome of a product description. May be good however, for one of you guys who is interested in them.
