Mine were in mint condition and I paid $1500 for them so < $1200 would be an okay price, < $1000 would be better of course. I drove over 700 miles round trip over 18 hrs to pick mine up. They are worth it. Forget about the "if they are less than $1000, I'll take them." You're lucky they are only a two hour drive away, I see that as an opportunity to snag some really great speakers. Go for it then do the repairs/upgrades and then you really have something special.

    Hearingimpared,
Thanks for the breakdown on the price. I'm not concerned about the drive, I drove 8 hours round trip to get my 1C's from Mike. Still love the 1C's, but I'll upgrade if the price is right. Ok, I'm in. Anybody else here bidding on these?

For those that don't realize it, 1.2TL's have been selling for $2500.00 and up. At $1200.00 with a few issues, these are a steal. WTF are you waiting for???

It's best to wait and bid with 10 seconds left or 5 seconds is even better. Otherwise you're just running the price up for yourself and everyone else.

Almost clicked BIN on the above E-Bay listing, but slowly counted to ten and
refrained. I currently have 2.3's and am trying to decide if I should upgrade to 1.2 or 1.2TL's or simply upgrade existing 2.3's to the newer tweeters. Very pleased with the 2.3's, but I may not know what I'm missing. There is a lot of expertise on this forum and I would appreciate any comments, good or bad.

    Thanks, from a newby.

I hope others will chime in. If I had known I was going to find a pair of 2.3's locally a few months later, I wouldn't have drove 850 miles/13 hours to buy a pair of SRS's. Not trying to talk you out of it. Just giving you my personal experience. Is there anything else in your system that may need upgraded worse than the speakers like your amp or pre-amp, interconnects, speaker wires, etc?

Geez, I'm still seeing words in my eyes from that listing.
That was very tough to read it all in one sitting, I felt like bookmarking it and going back and reading the rest later after the first 2k words:D  :D I cant believe someone didnt buy it at $1200.00 REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I am in the market for some big old Polks. Price, driving distance, minor flaws aside, would you go for a pair of original SDA SRSs or 1.2tls?

The SDA SRS has sort of a breathy sound and seem to have an analog feel of some sort where as the 1.2's are more like the rest of the SDA models, more forward and distinct. (In my rooms anyway).

Both are great speakers, but as with anything else in this hobby, different systems/ears like different things; I had both and I liked the 1.2TL's better.
Highs IMO are more refined; very detailed without beeing harsh (though the SRS's I had did not have the silk tweeters).

The sl3000 do sound really nice to. I upgraded my sl2000's to RDO's, and that was a good jump, but SL3000 to RDO is a nicety, not a necessity:)

I thought it was a nicety too that is why I upgraded my SL 3000 on my 1.2 TLs to the RD0198s. I wanted newer drivers but I must say the RD0s sound sweeter than the SL 3000 not that the SL 3000 were harsh or brassy the RD0s are just more mellow. After about 30 hours of break-in it started becoming evident.
