lol, I saw this last night as well. It was good. They should have given up on trying to have a story at all though... The fight scenes were really cool, they were cutting between a bunch of short scenes from weird angles so you really dont know whats going on... Long shots centered on one "combatant" and even appropriately used slow-motion shots. I'd recommend anyone who likes action movies see it at some point

I've been dying to see this. I've always had a thing for the 300 Spartan story. I remember loving the original movie with Richard Egan playing King Leonidas . . . that moving was inspiring, I would imagine that this version with all the effects, drama, and history added to it would bring goosebumps and tears of inspiration.

Very little here that is historically accurate, it's all about the eye candy and it is very well done in that respect. Saw it this morning and loved it, a must buy when it hits Blu-ray.

From the previews I've seen on TV, I'm really dying to see it. I also like the story from history, but it's not historically accurate?

I guess that's ok. I saw Gladiator on TV last week for the first, and it wasn't historically accurate, either. However, I thought it was awesome. Hate I waited so long to see it.

Gladiator is awesome. I saw it in the movies when it first came out. The scene where the whole arena is chanting MAXIMUS, MAXIMUS, raised goose bumps. I would imagine on a good HT it would be even more enthralling.

Not trying to down play it since I also liked it. I just didn't love it. Visually great. I thought the short oracle scene with the young woman was fabulous. I guess my "problem" was that I knew the story (from reading the graphic novel) and the most of the movie was really just one quick battle scene after another, wave after wave. Never really had me at the edge of my seat. For Sin City for instance I had a grin from ear to ear throughout the whole movie. This one didn't do it for me like that did.

Regardless, still a definite go see film.

The only negative I saw in the movie was King Leonidis's wife, played by Lena Headey.

Nice hooters ? To be sure.
But she seemed out of her league in this movie. Her character, who was supposed to be a Spartan queen, seemed more like someone you'd see in a slasher flick; running away, falling down, twisting her ankle type.

    Other than that: must see.

I first didn't know where I had seen 'Leonidas' before but then it struck me, 'Phantom of the Opera'. It must have been the difference in conditioning. Very well casted, an excellent choice. Xerxes, while propably not a very accurate historically, was also a good choice.

I'm glad they didn't have much mythical history in it and Heracles was only briefly mentioned.
