I also ordered this last Saturday from elusivedisc.com. Is it for real that there will only be 3000 made?
I don't have an SACD player yet, but I'm looking on ebay for one. I've heard so many people here mention JATPS that I thought I'd order it since I don't have any other SACD's other than one John Mayer which is a hybrid.Robert

Geez....with the upcoming Genesis and Moody Blues SACDs, and now this!!
BTW, I found the limited edition 3 SACD + bonus DVD set of "Jazz at the Pawnshop" on ebay for US$75.00 shipped. I have purchased from this seller before and they're actually a brick-and-mortar music store in Hong Kong.

Just ordered a copy as well along with some record cleaning supplies. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed and third, it is accepted as self evident.

Have you ever heard this recording before? If you haven't you are in for a real treat. If you have please let us know your impressions compared to the CD or LP. -
I heard one or two tracks at Rich's house when Carl & Brett were there. I auditioned a lot of new (to me) music that day and I've purchased all the CDs we listened to now that JATPS anniversary edition is here.
I better be in for a treat!Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Just close your eyes when you cue it up (or whatever you do ) and you will swear you are in that little smelly jazz club in Sweden.:) -

I have never heard tape hiss in any of the versions that I have, i.e. CDs, LPs, SACDs. What you do hear very clearly is the backround din of the audience. I notice with the LP & SACD that din gives you to illusion of being in the crowd. . . it is quite satisfying. -

I purchased a copy of a Living Stereo sacd album and the "tape hiss" form the recording (?) is very distracting imho.

Yep, I've experienced the same thing with the some Living Stereo SACDs namely the Spanish guitar SACD. You won't find that to be the case with Jazz at the Pawnshop. -

Yup, no shortage of old music at Rich's house. Joe - I haven't played it yet. I'm awaiting the arrival of my SACD player from doro. I heard a track or two in less than optimim conditions (out of the sweet spot) at Rich's.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

I've listened to it on a boom box and was floored with how good it sounded on that. -
Mine just came in the mail. (ordered from elusive disc). Mine is #655 / 3000.
I'll post my impressions after I get a listen. Will have to listen to the redbook layer for now since I don't have an SACD player yet.Robert

Been listening to CD # 1 in the set in redbook mode and I'm very impressed so far. The DVD just has an interview (in Swedish) with a couple of the musicians who played on the recording. It has a version with English subtitles. The DVD is interesting, but if you already own the previous release on SACD, I wouldn't go out and spend the money just for the DVD interviews.
The DVD would not play on 2 of my DVD players, apparently it is not region 1. However, it would play on my laptop computer which is set to region 1. I also read the little booklet the came with the set from cover to cover. Lots of good information, but some of it is just a repeat of the liner notes from previous editions.Robert

That redbook CD will whip most other redbook recordings hands down.TN_Polk_Lover wrote:I also read the little booklet the came with the set from cover to cover. Lots of good information, but some of it is just a repeat of the liner notes from previous editions.
This is the problem I have when I love something like this piece. I must have it all. . . everything that is put out even if it is redundant. It's a sickness. -
Yea, for me, this was worth every penny of the approx. $90 that it cost me. I like all of the information in the booklet and the interviews on the DVD. But, I didn't have a previous version of this. Actually, I had never heard of this before until someone mentioned it here in another thread.
I didn't mean to sound too negative by saying that some of the material was repeats of previous liner notes, and the DVD interview is interesting, but not earth shattering. I just thought if there was someone out there who had the previous SACD release, it might not be worth $90 for them to get this newest version. However, if one day the limited edition becomes valuable on ebay . . .
It was interesting to read how popular this recording is in Japan.
I listened to CD# 1 about 3 times, but then stopped so that I could watch Doug Wilson's "Moving Up" on TLC network. I'll definitely get to CD #2 later tonight.Robert

Lady Be Good. . . the best performance on the set! High Life gets the feet tapping. Oh heck the whole thing is just great.
