I picked up "Wincing the Night Away", then immediately went out to buy "Chutes to Narrow". Great tunes! I hear a song or two here and there on NPR, but after listening to the whole album, WOW! Thanks for the heads up on this band.

For Valentine's Day, my wife got me tickets to this show in April at the historic Brown Theatre. I'm pretty stoked...
Of note, the tickets were not cheap... though I think this has more to do with the venue than the band.
I sell gear to make money for the house and she spends it right back on me...

I have seen them 7 times now, and it's money well spent. Trust me on that one. Over hundreds of shows they are easily in the top 5.

Not to say they replicate their CDs on stage, but the quality is easily the same. Too bad you won't see them with Petra, though. :(

Have you listened to her The Who! Sell Out CD?:p

My Brightest Diamond is opening for 'em... and I can actually say, I've never heard of them.

I don't have a very good TT, and I'm more of a collector of certain bands vinyls. That said, I think it sounds real good.

that song is ok.. a couple other good ones are Sleeping Lessons.. but only the last minute of the song.. the first 2:25 bites.

    Australia is pretty decent too.

    Sealegs isn't bad either.

the second half of the CD is just so so I think.

That's a cool video. Kinda reminded me of "16 Military Wives" by the Decemberists, which is straight out of Rushmore. Check it out:

I think Turn on Me is my favorite thusfar. The other ones mentioned are all solid as well.

The last three or four do trail off a bit, but still a CD I like listening to all the way through.

I wanted to see them at Nokia Theater on 3/5, I think, but I'll be in Cabo. . . tough luck, huh?!?

I just listened to the "Wincing the Night Away" LP. These guys are special. Sonics = five stars, performance = five stars, engineering = five stars. At the end of each track I kept wanting more and wondering what they were going to do next. Excellant!!!! I actually felt sad when it was over.

The banjo was a nice touch and I know I heard a ukulele in there. The french horns at the end was a masterful touch like when Gershwin put those few banjo plucks at the end of Rhapsody in Blue. I thought I heard some Moody Blues influence on this LP. They really did it up nice too, a nice textured poster and the card posted earlier permitting downloading of the MP3 version. Great Stuff!!!

If you don't have this in your LP colllection I highly recommend that you get it. The LP itself was a nice heavy sturdy vinyl and very very quiet. I want to get their other albums.

It's guys like these and Maroon 5 that keep the music fires burning in this generation.

Thanks you cstpeter and the rest of you folks for turning me on to this band.

All right all you young ones, (except you Al, your old) I picked up 16 old guy and classical pressings today at my GW, RT1's best low cost vinyl outlet, there was a Shins which I went breezing by, guess I need to go invest another .85, is there a old guy Shins and younger guys Shins, all I know about shins is they give splints when I jog. Well jog might not be accurate, lets say when I lumber along.

Between this forum, Stereophile and TAS the new and breaking music is all out front. You will love Wincing the Night Away, I have some other "New" music on great vinyl and the music sucks but this is really good.
