These internet forums are GREAT WEALTHS of information. But since not everyone is on the same level-- Perhaps that's not a good way to put that: Since not everyone is looking for the same thing... there's a tendency to go overboard with the advice (even though it may be good advice), I think. This is a fantastic forum community, with a lot of members who REALLY know audio. But one has to have the capacity to decide what bits of information are important for what they're trying to accomplish. People who have next-to-no experience with this stuff don't have that capacity, and the only way to gain that ability is from experience, IMO. Listen, demo, experiment, ask, learn, etc..

well this is my setup im going with all polk monitor series speakers 70's for the front, 40 series bookshelfs for the rear, and a cs2 for the center the 70 will be driven by a rotel 2 channel power amp 200x2 wpc. the reciever will be the rotel reciever ive decided they are the bettter performing reciever, and i like the fact that they have a mode to bypass all digital processing. all im looking for now is a dvd/cd player that will be able to keep up with the changing formats over time?

Jason, you hit it on the head.. he doesn't know what he wants.. or why he needs this or that. So he keeps changing his questions.... ne 1 know nething about Onkyo? over and over again.

He needs to get out and demo some receivers instead of asking us which is the better receiver. Whatever happen to doing your own demos, instead of asking the same question over and over again??

You'd think you boy's would have learned this by his 5th post.

All these posts and nobody has really commented on the 804? Possibly nobody here has first hand knowledge of it. You say go demo them, well there is only so much you can do at the store.

First hand information is the way to go and thats why peeps ask questions on these boards and hopefully, there are a few here that may have some.

I wonder how the HDMI feed is from an HD DVD to receiver to tv. Hows the LFE with the 804 connected this way with a Toshiba A2 HD DVD (HD-A2 or A1) Does this unit upconvert to 1080p to a source that can except it? Is there any noticable loss of image quality by using the REC HDMI out to TV.

How is the setup and overall sound and were there any issues with setup such as bass level or the OSD? Hows is the ps3 or xbox working with the 804?
