I've already gone through the effort of isolating the differences that cables make, just not in this particular instance because I don't need to. I already know from personal experience that upgraded cables are going to make an improvement, so I don't need to experiment anymore. I have nothing to prove to myself or anyone else.
What was it you were saying about preconceived ideas? :rolleyes:Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Here's the definition of preconception:
"An opinion or conception formed in advance of adequate knowledge or experience, especially a prejudice or bias."
Therefore, I couldn't have had preconceived ideas about the differences in cables because I already had adequate knowledge and experience.

So sometime in the past you've used an Oppo with an upgraded power cord in your system while changing nothing else and heard how it made a difference?
We all agreed that it's about synergy and every single component shifts the picture and you've admitted that you've got no experience with this set, yet insist that the power cord is making a certain difference. Preconception.

Oh and you're also implying that you never need audition another cable since you've got adequate experience.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Wrong again.
Re-read the entire thread. I didn't conclude that the power cord made a difference. I realized that I changed the power cord and the interconnects at the same time. I basically said I don't know which change made the biggest difference, nor do I give a damn, just that a change was made.
But what I will say is, based on my prior experiences with upgrading power cords in virtually every other component I've used them in (at least 10), they contribute to lowering the noise floor, thus improving the sound.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub
