New to the forum...I still have my 1981 RTA 12Bs -- replaced the tweeters in 1990, still running strong. I have them in my living room and listen to XM and streaming iTunes c/o Airport with Airtunes. After all these years, they still sound amazing!

I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but I just found a pair of RTA 11's. Bad news is two frozen MW's on one speaker. Good news is that, if I was to judge the potential sound on the working one, these are killer speakers. I once had a pair of SDA 1's that had, I think, four MW's, two tweeters, and a passive radiator. I made my own connector for the total effect. The sound was something other than stereo. These mimmik that effect but with a more "stereo" sound. I suspect that some keen engineering went into this model.

Welcome, and that is a bit of a dig up. You can call Polk CS and see if they have replacements, or someone on here probably does. I'm glad you like the speakers even though only one is working and Polk made some sweet classic stuff.

I had the Monitor 11 RTA and IMO one of the finest speakers Polk has ever released. I have very serious "sellers regret" in getting rid of them. I sold them to get SDAs a couple of months back. Love the SDAs but wish I'd never sold the Monitor 11 RTAs.

I just picked up a pair of RTA 11 speakers via Craigslist. Other then one snapped binding post, these look absolutely mint. We tested the mids for magnet shift and cabinet seals by gently pushing on the PR and everything looks great. Can't wait to get them back from the shop and set up our alternate listening room. We already have RTA 12C loudspeakers in our main room, which is what steered me toward these 11's. The 12C's sound fantastic BTW!
Incidentally, has anyone experimented with putting these 11's on short, tilted stands in order to improve time alignment of the tweeters? Obviously they came with built in risers (unlike the monitor series). I'm toying with the idea of removing the 2" risers and proping them up on Monitor 10 stands with that 3 degree tilt. Thoughts?
Big thanks to everyone for posting above... especially the owners manual PDF! -
