A DAC Question

Let's assume I'm using a DAC with a CD player as the transport. How the hell does the CDP know to "turn off" its internal DAC and defer to the external one? [scratching his head...] I'm figurin' the signal runs through the CDP's internal DAC before it got to the outputs where the external DAC is connected. What say you?
Thanks.
Thanks.

My understanding is that if you use the digital out, you skip the internal DAC; if you use the analog outs, you are using the internal DAC._________________________________________________

The digital out of the CDP bypasses the internal DAC.

Yeah, what he said. Digital to Analog Converter.
Your stereo RCA outputs are Analog, your coax, bnc, ebu, toslink are digital (yet to be converted).Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -

I don't think anything is bypassed, but you don't use the other output. So you use the optical / coax output, the RCA analog is still working.
Look at this like if you got HOT water in the sink in the kitchen, doesn't your wife still get HOT water in the shower? The hot water tank is the same water output.

If I make any adjustments to the water while my wife is in the shower, she usually cuts off my analog input. The only nekkidness I see for a few days is strictly digital, as in downloads..............;)HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

She doesn't if your hot water tank is too small.....or if your water pressure is too low....or if she just wants cold water.... :p_________________________________________________
