So that's it, the best your young minds can muster? Is to just say dead??

Pitiful, really. Well maybe some time, experience and a bit of knowlegde along the way will help.

I don't see how anyone could say speaker break in is a myth. Not only do you have people listening who believe it, you also have scientific tests to show it does change the parameters of the drivers. Its most dramatic during the first hours and levels off into infinitely small changes, but its there.

On the other hand, I don't believe in cap/cable/amp break in. Use that info as you may.

Finally, F Audioholics. They might have some decent info from time to time, but it has been littered in the past with bias (*cough* Yamaha... nice they have an ex-Yamaha engineer on the staff!!!), but if you look at the numbers and understand them, the numbers can draw you toward some interesting conclusions.

Hold on there Hoss! You can't have it both ways. An engineer from a speaker company coughs some data from somewhere and it's the Holy Grail, but another engineer spews forth some data and it's all BS? How does that play out? Which engineer are we supposed to believe. The one that reforces our position...the rest are idiots? Nah, that horse don't race.

The only way to know for sure is double blind testing by an agency/group/research orgnaization that has absolutely no stake in the outcome in any way, shape or form.

Measureable on an ocillascope is worthless. Ears are the only instrument that are worth a damn or relevant.

For those that believe...STFU. You can't prove anything. All you have to go on is YOUR EARS. If your ears hear a difference, either your nuts or maybe you really do hear a difference. Perhaps it's your wallet speaking to you from beyond your **** telling you that since it's now thinner, and you've already got buyers remorse, that the speakers will sound better in a day, week, or 125.78943 hours. Who knows? The point of my rant? There's no way to prove that you hear something that I don't, or that I've got smarter ears than you.

Believer or Nay-Sayer, who gives a rats ****. Go listen to your gear, enjoy it for what it is and quit over analyzing everything.

    I'm goin' to bed.

    Exactly.

Either way, you guys can believe what you want to believe.... and I'll believe what I want to believe.

No one can tell who's wrong or who's right.... we dont have the measurements to truly say which way is which and based on what I've done, I tend to believe in the stance I take.

Regardless, let's all enjoy our gear. Goodnight! :)

This thread should be killed because you wil never be able to convince anyone as to one way or the other. There is a rebutal for every argument on this subject. This is really just a big pissing contest. If I had more self control, I'd never read any of this stuff but reading some of the posts is funny.

Then what you are saying is that pretty much everything on this forum is worthless.

I better not hear any of you naysayers give any advice as to what equipment is "better", because you can't "prove" it.

This is pretty funny , If you compare and old driver to a new driver it is very aparent that the old driver is loose feeling and the new driver is tight. You can and will hear the difference period . This is very apparent on the driver I cant speak about the tweeter. But it would seem to have the same affects.

No, just wire and break-in threads. Have you read any threads on these subjects that have not just been arguments?

Yes, there have been threads where intelligent people have discussed differences of opinion and facts without getting their panties in a wad.

Having said that...half the fun of internet forums is watching/participating in the meltdowns.

Just like anything else....if you want to participate...do so. If not...DON'T. It's quite simple really.

I'm not really that worried about it...do what you want. I just think it is funny that the same people who discount what other people say because it can't be "proven" show no compunction about giving their unproven advice out freely...

OK, let's talk about religion now.

You'd think that Troy... but this rabbit hole goes deep.

    "Over-analyzing"?!?

I thought that was strictly the province of you unbelievers... as in "prove it cochise... prove it or perish a thousand deaths"

    and so on...

but since my wallet is neither fat nor my agenda politically charged, I still stand firmly behind my original assertion.

Speaker break-in is not a myth.

For the majority of posts, I would concur!!!!

Asking what is the best is absurd at best. There is no best!!!! There are a awful lot of OPINIONS as to whats best and even those are very subjective. 2 speakers, 2 different companies, same drivers from a 3rd party, which most are, using the same box sizes, same port sizes and materials and youve got these are better because they cost 10 times more, OK!!!!

Most every post is subjective in nature at best outside problem ones.
Its subjective with many reasons from monies spent, how in depth of a Audiopile you believe you are and so on!!! For every pro, there is always a con on EVERYTHING thats posted.
Common sense is thrown right out the window in audio and video forums, right out the window!!!
There is not one thing I have ever bought that didnt settle or change in one way to another, nor anybody else. Which side of the fence do you want to sit on????

    Stupid argument at best!!!
