Damn I feel dumb. I did not read this thread and did not realize it was in Spanish.Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Friend.

In for the 2 disc! Can't wait
-
Good movie, I expected more of the fantasy, not so much reality. A bit bummed about that. Good acting, great special effects and very dark.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
Just found out this was in Spanish when i rented it. No english dub. I am pretty bummed out about that. Nothing ever mentioned in any reviews i've read. Have not watched it yet. Looks good though. One of my favorite directors.....

Eh, dubbing is always a waste anyways. Nothing wrong with subtitles.
Enjoy.. a dark depressing film that is extremely well done!!!Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

the subtitles in my opinion are part of what makes this movie great.

How can you watch a movie when your busy reading subtitles? Especially one as visually creative as this. Maybe it's easier on a little screen...;)

i can multi task

I knew that was coming. Like walking and chewing gum........ Maybe being multi-lingual is the key.;)
I can rub my belly and hit my melon at the same time too! -
I liked it -
But since I hadnt heard anything about it, I expected something different by the cover. Still a good movie.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
About a 6/10 for me. It was way over review hyped, i expected much better.
The Fountain was pretty good 7/10 for me. Good movie night! -

I agree, seemed to make it more fairy tale like that I didn't know what they were saying.God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8 -

You really liked the Fountain over Pan's Labyrinth, Wow. That movie was the one I felt was over the top, so maybe you can help me under stand something.

The Fountain wasn't a movie meant for direct "understanding". It was artsy and symbolism therefor left for interpretation. Not very many movie like that now days. **spoiler**The bubble representing his safe place in a dream state, he busted out due to the reality of his wife's death. Meditation can be described in levels of a sleep or a state of rest. The acting in the movie dealing with this type of subject matter was very engaging. Not impressed with the little girls acting in PL. Subtitles took a lot away from me.
75% of communication is body language. If your reading the dam screen your missing all the information. It's that simple. You don't read subtitles in reality. -
I kinda understand what your saying but The Fountain still doesn't make any since to me. I guess it depends on what your into. And by the way, to who ever started this thread sorry for jacking it and talking about another movie.Casey

Dude the Fountain flat out rocked! One of the most appealing movies to me in a long time... loved it! As Scott said, it was very open to interpretations, and that, for me is huge.
But you are right, a different film for a different thread... (I think I started one awhile back...)Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

"Never trust a faun".
This was an excellent movie, dark to be sure, a movie with a message (anti-facism), and quite a quote at the end:
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT
"You passed the final test. You could have chosen to spill the blood of an innocent, but instead chose to spill your own"

I actually find that I pay more attention to a movie with subtitles. Since you have to remain so focused on the film in order to follow, your mind tends to wander less to the hot Latino chick slingin' Skittles at the concession stand.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
I don't really see how subtitles was a distraction in this movie. All you needed to do was watch it. Lots of different layers of symbolism in this one.
-
Rented this over the weekend. Quite a bit bloodier than I expected but I guess I didn't read too much about it beforehand.
Typically I don't mind subtitles and actually prefer them over a poor dubbing. However, there was a lot of nice imagery in this movie and I found myself missing alot of it because of my need to focus on the bottom of the screen. -
I thought it was just alright. The Captain was a really good bad guy. Definitely had some great acting, characters were interesting, visuals were all pretty good.
Can't say I loved it, but I can at least see why others have liked it so much. I had high expectations, which usually means I end up disappointed afterwards.

It actually pissed me off.... as it got some of her homies clipped. Actually lost a lot of sympathy for her after that point.I never had it like this where I grew up. MORE SPOILERS:
I thought the same thing, also about how casually she went through scary and disgusting sequences. However, when it got to the end and she dies, and its her parents she sees, I'm thinking all of the "fairy tale" stuff was just her imagination and therefor she was never really that scared or grossed out. She couldn't cope with her "real" world, so she dreamed up a fairy tale world for her to escape to. -
Spoilers GALOUR!!!She couldn't cope with her "real" world, so she dreamed up a fairy tale world for her to escape to.
Yeah, in every fantasy story of this sort, imagination is always a potential culprit for the fantasy. Captain Dickface couldn't see the Fawn at the end of the movie, but maybe because that's because he's an adult, or a ****, or whatever so the fawn was invisible to him.
The root thing was there for Captain D'Bag and chica's mom to see and hold. . . but, I guess it's possible she just found a nasty root, put it in some milk, etc. on her own. And, she escaped a locked room using chalk and said chalk was later found by Captain Terrible.

"Capitan Terible"
I think the "root thang" is a mandrake, which should finally put to rest the long-running issue of my infinite dorkdom.I never had it like this where I grew up. *SPOILER*
You might remember that after the little girl got back from the tree her new dress was ruined and her mother sent her to bed with no supper , so when she was eating the grapes she had not eaten in like 2 days and figured what will to little grapes hurt. The only reason I know this is because after I watched thee movie the first time I watched it with Del Toro's commentary . There are alot of little things you might miss if you are not looking for them and Del Toro's points most of them out. And its in english.Casey
