    *****SPOILER*****

Kaiser Soze doesn't really walk with a limp...

I thought it was just alright. The Captain was a really good bad guy. Definitely had some great acting, characters were interesting, visuals were all pretty good.

Can't say I loved it, but I can at least see why others have liked it so much. I had high expectations, which usually means I end up disappointed afterwards.

    Spoiler Alert:

Why the hell would chica eat those grapes with the child eating monster sitting right there. Wouldn't she have gotten in and out as soon as possible?

...because it wasn't real. You're asking for a rational explanation for something that is nothing more than a dream sequence.

Nice Whale-tail, Zombie. A very classy, understated look to it.

Honestly, if you were that hungry, why not go for the gusto and thrown down a chicken wing, Pork Chop, etc. Something with sustanance.

A couple grapes? WTF is that going to do for you. Nothing, just get your head nearly bit off by an eye-handed monster.
    because it wasn't real

Yeah, I know you can say it was all dreams. But, I don't like that answer. Like saying American Psycho was all just halucinations / not real. Seems like a cop-out.

The grape scene was setup so that she had to eat/drink to activate ol handeye...it took me out of the scene too. I argued with a reviewer of DVD Talk about this...he pointed out as you have, dream fantasy, hungry, child, no control, etc., but I still felt that it should have been implemented in a more clever fashion...I can think of several ways...guess GDT should have consulted me first.

The Fountain was more open ended and explainable in various interps...read where the 2500AD Wolverine perhaps had found the TOL after his wife died, had conquered age and was just flashing back the "real story" on his way to renew the tree. Interesting concept...

So the child dreams up this insanely scary monster only not to have any action because that's more believeable?

I dunno, it seems like you're criticisizing spider-man for jumping just 6 inches too high. ;)

And we're suspiciously close to asking why the person hearing strange noises decides to explore the cellar. Because you wouldn't have a movie otherwise....

Fine, it's a dream and everything makes sense. Great. So it's just a war film with a manic depressant, halucinagenic little girl who dies at the end.

I need to toss down a handful of Zanax now.

OK, I'll admit I was very skeptical about watching this movie because I don't care for fantasy-type movies. Since my wife loves that kind of stuff, I figured I'd rent it for her. The movie was very good. I actually enjoyed it. The sound was great and reading the dialog wasn't too bad.

Just finally got around to watching this; loved it. Great sound mix, great visuals, engrossing story, great characters. Really loved it.

I agree about the "why the hell did she eat the grapes" moment, but... she was just a little kid. They always do what they're told not to :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I saw the whole grape thing as a classic temptation scene, not unlike Eve's apple. We are constantly tempted to indulge in activities that aren't good for us, and this grape scene merely showed one of the heroine's character flaws. But alas, she was given another chance to redeem herself, and in doing so, she learned a valuable lesson about listening/trusting those who know more than you do.

good movie, but left me wanting ALOT more. Specifically, from the "underworld" perspective so to speak. One of those rare movies that would be better in 3hr. form than in 2hr. imo.

The Neverending Story does all this - and in 90 minutes no less. Of course you have to get over the occasional bad blue screening and 80's camp.

Rented this last night. I would give it a 7/10. It was a bit more violent than I imagined. The sound of the fairies flying about was very nice surround around and could be used easily as a demo. I did not mind the subtitles.

One improvement could of been the grape scene. A bit more buildup so that we could sympathize with her hunger would have done wonders. Also a better understanding of the lures of the underworld would of been nice.

    Definitely worth a rent.
