Their CD "Fallen" is one of my very favorites. This CD was due out a year ago last November and never came but finally, today, we get it. Now sure why they fell of the map for so long but this CD is awesome, equally as impressive as Fallen.

Their music, and Amy's voice, are so...haunting, it chilling.

I liked a couple of their songs but listening to an entire alnum for me was fatiguing. Her voice just started to grate on my ears after a while as whiny. Maybe I will give her another shot.

This is a group I've come to love over the past year. Forgot this was coming out, I'll have to pick it up the next time I'm out. I do like her voice and the power from the crushing guitars but then she knocks it down a notch with the piano. Nice light and shade contrasting in many of their compositions.

I heard 4 or 5 songs I liked on it...

Other than that, I may need a second listen...

SO far I'm not digging the new cd. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but really I only like the Radio song so far. I hope it gets better.

Sorry Ron, still no love for this sell out Christain band.
First off, how are they a "sell out" band? Please explain.

I picked up Lacuna Coil's Karmacode578 CD, the one with the DM song. Been listening to it for the past couple of days. Good stuff, I will agree, and I will pick up more of their CDs.

Comparing them to Evanescence, Evanescnece wins hands down. The music is better, more varity to it. Amy Lee, she's got more power and better range and a more natural sound. Andrea's voice sounds weak and over re-verbed in all the songs, nothing about her voice stands out, it just sounds average.

A good band with good music but not even close to the quality of Evanescence.

It has to do a bit with street credit. They were originally a christain band that decided they would go "goth". Quess god doesn't pay enough. You can only get nurr instead of platinum. (South Park Pun)
Amy has no credit in the rock industry or the band. Some of the bands mentioned the female lead singers along with the musicians are somewhat legends of there own. They have deep roots with other bands. A group like "Sins of Thy Beloved" have members that have studied at schools the equivalent of Juliard.
Evanescence took well over a year to tour on thier first album so they could learn how to play. They are the american idol of thier genre and that is not a compliment in this industry. Thier first single was conjured by a group called 12 Stones. And they were heavily promoted off the DareDevil soundtrack.
Does Amy have a good voice, sure. Do i like the Seether song "Broken" better with out her, yes. Are some of there songs catchy, sure.
Want to check a young hard working new band "FlyLeaf". Evanescence is a small american dull pop band in world that has already embedded much better music in the genre.
    SEE:
    Tristania
    Power Symphony

I'm sure Organ and such could come up with others.....
I think Portishead is way under rated.

But, with me, none of that history stuff matters, at all. I like the music, that's it. Where they came from, how they got where they are, who they got ideas from, who wrote their music....etc., it doesn't matter. Whatever kind of label people want to put on them, so be it, again, it doesn't matter at all, to me.

I hear what you are saying Ron, loud and clear. But you asked...............

I am a HUGE 80's fan. Hell yes, Depeche Mode, Culture Club, Duran Duran and CindY Lauper. I listen to alot of music. I grew up DJ'ing Two Live Crew with Peavey stack and bass bottoms reaching concert levels.

But i am also into European Metal/Black for many years now and these people make music, not to scam loads of money and hang on MTV's TRL. The number one search on US google is "Lindsay Lohan". You gotta be freaking kidding me!!! s c a r y......

So Ron seat back with some Evanescence and enjoy a Cold Stout my friend!!!!!!!!!!!

They are a sell out band. They sell out every arena they play in.

Now I've got an audio hard on for this Laguna stuff...is it a best buy find, or speciality shop? What's the ONE recommended offering from the band guys?

    Cheers,

Wow! Id never heard of Lacuna Coil til now. I looked them up on Itunes and adter listening to the first 3 samples, I immediately bought the entire album! This is a great CD!! Thanks for the tip!

I would like to also second the recommendation of Nightwish. They are one of my alltime favorite bands. Tarja Turunen is their lead singer and is classically trained and sounds awesome with the band. Theyre not as gothic as the Coil or Escence but the music is still excellent. Unfortunately Tarja got very popular in Europe (theyre Finnish and she is smoking hot!) so the other 4 guys in the band got jealous and fired her. Once and Centurys Child are their best offerings. Here is a video of a song of Once - "Nemo".

In fact, Im currently using a picture of her as my wallpaper.

Personally I love the new Evanescence cd, but do find it somewhat repetitive. I listened to it a few times through and really liked it, but more recently have been spending my time with the new My Chemical Romance.

As for Lacuna Coil, I gotta agree with Zero I have listened to thier most recent album twice through and liked a few songs, but nothing that blows me away. I have their "Comalies" and "Unleashed Memories" cds, I'll have tho check out their earlier work.

As for Within Temptation, I like "The Silent Force" better then any of the Lacuna Coil cds or Evanescence cds. This is one where I love most of the songs and really like the others, so it is easy to listen all the way through. Definitely second that recommendation.

All musicians are sell-outs---if they weren't, the CD's and concerts would be free. I listen to music for the same reason I watch movies---to escape reality. I don't need any serious message or touchy-feely motive behind it. Rock on and enjoy.
