    This sucks.

Also, the added bonus is that w/paypal the seller can immediately liquidate those funds and then claim he is broke when asked to make restitution, right Cliffy?

Never had a paypal account, don't want one, never going to get one, never going to use one. If I can't pay for something by cash, check, money order or charge card...I don't need it.

    Flipside:

Transfer 5000. over to your Paypal account. Spend your normal everyday expenses as per usual, just use the Paypal debit card (even the mom and pop's take em), and they credit your account something around 1.5% cash back. Also, during the two months or so that it may take most to spend this cash, you will also get a monthly dividend when signed up for the money market account (currently paying 5.04%), which is better than any liquid account I've seen. I get credits of $.02 to $40.oo frequently. If you have to pay by credit card, they split the 3% they charge the POS merchant, and give 1.5% back to you. The money market portfolio is managed by Barclay, that manages 1.5 Trillion, and with short term money being expensive, that dividend should be steady for some time to come.

Like a discount on everything. I'll gladly pay the 3%. I get it back many times over.

Paypal is just like working with the credit card comapnies. They charge a fee just the same as if you had a company and excepted Visa 0r M/C or american express. All of these credit card companies charge me a fee for letting my customers pay with the card and NONE of them like it when you forward the fees to your customers. The upside is I get my money right away instead of waiting 30 days (we sell comercial equipment and are a net 30 company)
It's just the cost of doing business.

Paypal just alerted the media that they will be taking down every Christmas tree in every home. Paypal will then kick your dog on the way out the door. If you have a cat, they will more than likely attempt to skin it.

Avoid making direct eye contact with Paypal at this time as it will be in a highly agitated state.

anyone use google checkout? Is it supposed to be like paypal?

I have no idea. I just saw buy.com was running a promotion for $20 off a $50 order if you use google checkout. Some pretty sweet deals to be had if you look around (rebates, etc.) Got some of my Christmas shopping done cheaply.
