Because your receiver isn't getting proper ventilation. Adur. Please also don't say my system doesn't compare to yours because it doesn't, mine would make you wet your cargo pants and dribble down onto your vans. I guess mine is inferior in the sense I can play it at deafening levels without distortion without blowing tweeters and it stays on.

Mine does not distort and my tweeters were not blown it was my ipod.

well heat does build up.. even at low volumes.. or no volume at all. My Adcom amp heats up pretty good just in "on" and no putting out any sound. once i have it powering up my front speakers. which are very easy to drive. it heats up in about 30 to 45 mins. and it kicks out some serious heat then. Amps I think may be designed differently than receivers.. in that heat is a given from an amp.

My old Marantz receiver used to put out some heat too. that's why i placed it on the top shelf of my audio rack.

Also, if somehow speaker wires may have touched each other at some point.. will also cause a receiver to turn itself off, esp if you're running bare wire.

    For cooling fans look up
    http://www.activethermal.com/default.htm

In most radio stations and a lot of commerical equipment we always used a fan called The Boxer, it's a stand alone unit, about 3 to 4 inches square, known for it's quiet operation and reliability. A Boxer is about 20 to 30 dollars.

system looks good man, follow the advise and use them as your guidelines, if you decide to buy into an amp, are you planning to buy a new rack as well? Anyway enjoy your setup, youre going to be in for a shocker once you put an amp on those fronts. Good job though.

    Doesn't the 335 have a built in fan ?

Mine has 3" of clearance on top tons on the side and about 8" behind it.

Also you might want to swap out those brass jumpers for better ones and not to nit pick but you could use some clean up in the cable area, those comming from the TV

if i could suggest an amp for you it would be the adcom gfa555 or the 555II...these amps are powerhouses and can be had for around 300 to 400 bucks. 200watts a channel of clean power and will surely wake your 10's up

you have 4 binding posts. in between each of them you will see a flat brass connector. Replace those with speaker cable.
    Check :
    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showcase/closeup.php?userid=56220&pic=227_22_big.jpg

BTW, nice system for any age but more so because of how young you are and what a fine system you put together. So stick around. You'll lurn tons.

Instead of using some paper thin connection you are using bigger AWG connection, it should prove the same as bigger sepaker cable will make a difference.
You don't have to buy jumpers like mine, you can make your own. Some speaker cable and either bare ends or you can terminate them if you wish.

i use 12 gauge wire for my jumpers....drastic difference in sound, but everybodys ears hear different things...goodluck with your system...when you decide to add an amp to those babies you are gonna be blown away. A recievers rated power is not always true. A 100 watt seperate amp will surely blow away your avr. this hobby is an addiction , like tatoos..i got my first one at 17 and now have 28....since i started loving home audio i cant tell you the money i have spent...IM AN ADDICT...for tats and home audio,,, thats where all my extra money goes. Trust me, my sig changes about every 3 months
