    Schmilnik,

Awesome system. Great selections that compliment each other real well, I bet that HT is bangin'.

    Now for suggestions;

First, your HK runs fairly cool for its design. Still, as Frank points out - you need more breathing room in the back. You run a good risk of damaging it as things are right now. Raise the glass payne if you can to the next notch, and you should be good to go.

Second, spread out those RTi-10's if possible. You will experience a total different sound (and for the better) with them a good 3-4 more feet apart and toed in slightly.

thanks for the suggestions i appreicate any help as i am somewhat new to this

From looking at your pics, you really don't have a lot of room.
If heat becomes a issue with the H-K then consider a cooling fan system to draw the trapped heat away from the unit. As far as speaker placement, seperate the 10's as far as possible in your tight quarters.

Don't get a hair cut, just keep it clean.
And no chewing gum in line.
    Don't figit when I'm talking to you.

My HK runs hot hot hot so I had to arrange things to give it 6-8 inches of top space to let it breath, no prob now. I'd check out the temp for yours after its been running for a couple hours. If you find it too hot then, yes it is a big issue.

Also, no plans for an amp?

heat can cause your HK to turn itself off if to much heat builds up and it might go into protect mode. also, heat build up will shorten the life of the receiver. or it could fry it completely. why risk any of those?

    nice looking system.

    enjoy

    schmilnik,

I will give you the short answer here. Most amplifiers generate heat when they are in operation - some more than others. It is a general rule of thumb to give them space so the heat inside the chasis can escape. If you block off part of the vents and prevent that hot air from escaping... the unit can over-heat and things can get very nasty. Blown caps, burnt resistors, blown transistors,.. and a lot more stuff that falls under the "not fun" category. There is also a good chance HK would not cover this damage as to most manufactorers, your set-up may constitute as abuse.

I have a 335 running an Lsi system and despite the load... it runs warm, not hot. There is a chance that things will be fine as is considering how easy your speakers are to drive.... but I wouldn't chance it.

If you can't find a way to safely raise that glass by an inch or so - consider placing that HK elsewhere or as suggested, find a fan to keep things cool. You may find that noise to be distracting though.

hey where can i get this cooling fan?? thats really crazy my receiver just turned off half way into a movie

Hahahaha. I read somewhere that there is a reason the entire top portion of a receiver chassis has all those slits.

    You guys are hilarious!

You aren't done man. I had an Rti system and thourhg I was done. I sold it all and blew the amount of money I paid on 6 speakers all into a two channel system.

You're never done, you're only addicted, stop trying to trick yourself into thinking it's going to be over.

You could upgrade that sub BTW, that would make music and movies alot more fun.

    Oh yea, and I'm 18....

You're 19? I would have never guessed. Grow up a little and smoke a little more reefer it might mellow you out. For a person who knows little to nothing about the hobby you made quite an "investment" and made quite a bold statement.

In response to your other post, (since you don't seem to even understand how to use the edit button on the forum) sick placement of your overpriced receiver, you'll destroy it in no time! YAH! Now go fall off a skateboard. Haha

I think it sucks  J/K :p;) . You asked for opinions schmilnik. Be careful what you ask for. It sounds like you just wanted a pat on the back about the new gear.

Some people are trying to give you good advice (move the shelf or the 335 if you can).

Try to relax and have some fun. Keep acting hostile and see where it gets you.

So what happen to your HK receiver after is shut off. DId it work fine the rest of the movie. Has it happen again? How loud were you playing the movie?

Do you think it was heat build up that shut it down?

It shut off and i turned it on again and everything was fine. And it has happened a few times. And I was playing it moderatly low.

Because your receiver isn't getting proper ventilation. Adur. Please also don't say my system doesn't compare to yours because it doesn't, mine would make you wet your cargo pants and dribble down onto your vans. I guess mine is inferior in the sense I can play it at deafening levels without distortion without blowing tweeters and it stays on.

Well the route I took with my system is, of course I wanted good clean sound, but I am a film as well as a sound major and when I watch movies I want to watch them with gusto. Which is why I did my research and descided on the SVS and the Pioneer as the powerplant to start off because I felt it would be a robust entry level system that I wouldn't risk damaging in that application. I felt it was a good performance/price ratio. Both systems are stong in their own aspects but flat out saying that his is better? I thought people grew out of that by his age.
