my interest in sacds is falling every time I buy a new one. It may be because with my sdas, I get such a huge soundstage that the sacds add very little. It may be different with other speakers.

Again, you haven't the faintest idea of what you are talking about.

Dumbass, don't you think that many of us listen to SDA's?? So, possibly we KNOW what sort of soundstaging they are capable of??

Now, if you wanted to talk about resolution or detail, then perhaps we could discuss. However, we, once again look into your big bag and, as usual, it's full of NOTHING.

I just want to mention that the number of titles at sa-cd.net has gone past the 5,500 mark (it's currently at 5,502 titles). Not too bad for a "dead" format....with over 500 new releases this year alone.

I was hoping to find the AKUS live SACD. Yikes! I think I've seen it go for over $130. Unless it gets reissued, I'll probably never own it. Thank goodness I've saved my DVD-A copy of ELP-Brain Salad Surgery.

I received the SACD/DVD of Genesis' "We Can't Dance" last week and I am surprised how clean this album sounds. I must have heard these songs hundreds of times over the years and the SACD really brought new life to them. Listened just thru my headphones....for now. I haven't watch the DVD either despite it being NTSC compatible and region-free. Got the SACD/DVD for $20.00 + $3.00 shipping from Hong Kong off of ebay.

Music Direct OWNS MoFi. Nobody gets to sell a MoFi release before Music Direct.

Clarification: The one from acoustic sounds is on the WB label.
I know MD owns MoFi. That's the two different companies I was asking about.
Are they seperate prints of the same 5.1 masters?
AS has in stock. Amazon doesn't. Are the MoFi sets better?....

MoFi obtains the rights to release limited numbers of SACD and/or Gold CD and/or LP from the label, in this case it's Warner Bros. If you look at the pic at Acoustic Sounds, at the top of the cover it says Original Master Recording, which is exclusive to MoFi. There is only one issue on SACD.

Since the release is this coming Monday, it's not a stretch for AS to say it's in stock as they couldn't ship it until Monday anyway.

Cool. Thanks for clearing that up, Jesse. I thought two different labels were trying to be the first to release.
Why is Amazon so far behind?

Mine is getting shipped On Monday:D

Ah, you pre-ordered, so I'll still correct that nobody gets to sell a MoFi release before Music Direct. :D

I think I ordered the SACD a week before receiving it. Since Music Direct owns MoFi, I'm not surprised by what you're saying.

On a related note, given that I pre-ordered somewhat close to the actual release day, my Doobie Brothers SACD is numbered, I believe, #201 (I'm at work and can't verify the number right off hand) on the back. I'm kind of surprised by the relatively low number I've received. I hope this SACD is selling so that more Warner Bros. titles will get released on SACD (how about some Van Halen??)

Isn't Geffen Records under the Warner Bros umbrella? If so, here's hoping they'll release Hell Freezes Over on SACD. :D

    Me too.

Btw, here's some good news for classical SACD fans....

Just as Telarc fades from the SACD scene, here comes Reference Recordings' second SACD release....

    Exotic Dances From the Opera

The CD layer is HDCD-encoded, naturally.

For those who thinks SACD died....here's the number of new SACD releases added to sa-cd.net for the first 6 months of:

    2007....330
    2008....314
    2009....309

This is not so bad, given the economy downturn around the world.
