I have a sony and my SRS's did a number on my 35" set. Then I got the boss (my wife) to let me get the Polk Audio surround system I am using (rt800i, cs400i, fx500i and psw350) driven by a harmon kardon avr7000. DTS is awsome. Got to think highly of Polk Audio. They understand customer service and stand by thier products. It also does not hurt that they sound great as well. We can all hope that Polk Audio is around for years to come.:D

I too am having a problem. When playing at loud levels, ~95db, the picture on my Sony XBR 36 wega actually bounces downwards with transients!!!. This did not occur with my CS400.
Otherwize, the sound of 5 speaker LSI setup is AMAZING!!
I've gotten up too many times to answer phone or door or check to see if its raining outside, only to discover it was coming from the speakers!.

    Hello,
The engineering department believes they have a modified crossover for the LSiC speaker that will eliminate the interference problem with television sets. I would like to send one of these crossover networks to anyone who has this problem and determine if the change is successful. It would involve some simple tweeter/drivers removal and installation of the new crossover from the back of the enclosure. Please contact me at kswauger@polkaudio.com or telephone me at 1-800-377-7655 extension 891 to get receiving address and more detailed instructions.
    Regards, Ken Swauger

I also have the same problem using the LSiC in reference volume. At lower volume it's okay.

I currently is waiting for my reseller to replace my first one, because it had some damage to the wood work.

If the second exhibit the problem again, what is the procedure on getting a LSiC that will not have this problem at high volume?

As an engineer, I am pretty impressed that polk acutally reads there message board! Its hard to find good companies, Marantz only gives a mailing address on their website! Who asks questions via mail? And the fact they will actually SEND you things to try out is AMAZING! Well even though I can't find a close place to listen to the LSi speakers I'm going to buy the LSi9s and LSiFX and wait until the center is fixed. Sounds like all the speakers might need this fix in the future (updated modles that is, just to be a bit better) Oh and my RT10s I bought for $500 5 years ago blow away the $1400 B&Ws I listen to as possible replacements today. LOL keep up the great work Polk. And that is pretty interesting the inductors where the problem. Man I love electronics. How does an aspiring engineer make his way into the audio world? I have 2.5 years under my belt, 1.5 on DVD players for the auto world :-( Working for auto company X as a supplier is a pain. To see a product with such potential be butchered by someone who has no clue is so painful! Note, I used company X to protect the guilty and my JOB!

    Great job Polk!

To all at Polk. Yes this was a fascinating look into the processes at Polk. It is not easy to foresee every possible situation a product may be used in.
    Great Info !!
    Great Response !!
    Great Work !!

There are presently 9 speakers in my little Polk family and it's nice to know they not only sound great, but are supported so well by the Mfr.

    Mega Kudos

It is great to read all this info.

I have a questions for folks at POLK, will the LSIC cause problem to the SONY pk-57WV700?. I am getting TV deliver in 2 days.

    Thanks,

My current system is: LSI15, LSIC, and LSI9.

If I'm right, then the answer is you have nothing to worry about. The guts (guns) of rear screen projector sets are way down near the bottom of the cabinet so that type of TV is virtually impervious to magnetic interference from any speaker place atop it.
Paul is right - there are rarely issues with projection tv's. The small crt type tv's where as people are placing the speaker directly on top of the set. I am sure this happens with more than just Polk speakers. 100% magnetic isolation may be difficult. Even if one were to simply place the speaker on "shelf" a couple inches below or above the tv - this would not be an issue. IMO

Thanks for the response, my mistake, it is KP-57WV700. Anyway, I went out to M A and look at the top of this projection model and there is no room to place the center speaker on top. So it is a none issue. However, you are right Paul, Sony website really suck. One more questions but not related to this issue. All of Polk LSI speakers are 4 ohms, does that means that I have to find a Receiver that support 4 ohms as well? Thanks.

This has been a fabulous thread. Kudos to Polk Audio for their OUTSTANDING CS and R&D on this problem.

CS is one of the reasons I bought Polk and SVS. And the primary reason I'm staying with both.

FWIW, I suspected this was a coil related problem because it cropped up during bass passages. If the magnetic structure on the speaks was improperly shielded, the problem would occur all the time.

When it is intermittent, it is obviously signal related. Any coil's magnetic field strength will increase as the amount of current being passed through it increases. And yes, I suspect setting the center to large and feeding it a full range signal will exacerbate the problem. I wonder if Steve could confirm this if possible.

The Samsung has like a 3 inch top,no room for a center channel there unless you use some kind of modified centerchannel stand.
The Mitsubisihi DLP is like this, the Sony Grand Wega is also.

Thanks Mantis - I get it. Small front shelf. Slopes in the back like a big crt. I hate those. U can always use the space on top of the "other" ones.

I accept: In the meantime, set the center speaker to the Small mode and use the supplied rubber feet or other vibration isolating devices such as Vibrapods. If that doesn't do the trick, move the speaker farther from the TV by raising it up with books or some other handy substance.
DO NOT go out and buy bucking magnets as suggested in one reply. The drivers have bucking magnets on them already and adding more will make the problem worse instead of better.

I think it's funny that the spammer knew that the drivers already had bucking magnets.
