Thanks for doing this, Danny. Let's also remember that, in remembrance of Greg, we are bonded by a kind-hearted man whom has touched our lives in a way that we all seem to fondly remembered him through his generosity.

May Greg's smile upon us from wherever he is.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

In my opinion, it's not important for the family to know my name, but to know the amount of people and total dollar amount that was donated.

This should give them a warm feeling that he had a sort of "family" out here that enjoyed his company and are saddened by his passing.

    My sentiments exactly.

OMG, $800 is awesome! I figured we would maybe hit half of that. Great job Polk Forum.

    If it gets to $1000....WOW!
    No excuses!

I just sent Paypal an email providing a brief description of what we're doing, asking if they'd waive the 3% of all these transactions - all they can do is say no. I'm sure they'll tell me to go jump off a cliff, but figured it's worth a shot.

Assuming they say no, I'll cover the 3% across the board so we actually get to pass on the full amount to the SPCA.

    EDIT: And I'm sure we'll hit $1000

This is amazing!!!! It unbelievably inspiring to see everyone pull together like this:)
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

As promised, we'll keep this open until this coming Sunday - I know alot of people were on vacation the last week before school, so wanted to keep this open to allow as many people as possible to view.

At this point, I think we've got the majority of the response we're going to see, and most of our 'regulars' have pitched in. However I'm still waiting to hear back from a handful of people. I have PMd those individuals once with a follow up message, but that will be my last PM as I don't want to bother anyone, and especially don't want to put anyone in an uncomfortable position if they are now unable to donate for any reason.

The plan is to let this run until Sunday with a bump or two along the way for anyone who may have missed it, and give those that I have not heard back from an opportunity (until Sunday) to get back to me and let me know if they would still like to participate. Those that I haven't heard back from by Sunday I'll assume are not able to participate for one reason or another.

This will also give time for a few of the checks and MOs to arrive. Though the plan is not to wait on all those before we send this out, it'll be nice to have a few of those in-house since the response has been overwhelming - just means I'll have to cover that much less.

So by next Monday then, I'll have a final tally of all donations, and we'll be able to send this off to the SPCA.

    Okay guys, time's up.

I'm going to sit down tonight and tally everything up and will report back. It looks like I've received several checks and money orders in the mail and will sit down and go through all that tonight.

Thanks, will report back soon. I'm pretty sure we hit 1K, or at least got really close.

Okay, so here's where we ended up.

We ended up with $575 in paypal donations before the fees which they declined to waive. I've received $365 in checks, money orders, and cash, and have another $30 somewhere in transit. We've had a couple people need to back out due to financial reasons and a couple who elected to donate directly to the SPCA themselves.

With all funds received and payments on the way we have raised $970!! That's awesome by any measure, but especially for a bunch of guys on an audio forum, most of whom never even met Greg in person.

I'll be covering the paypal fees and chipping in myself to bring the total donation to an even $1000. I'm going to contact the SPCA tomorrow to determine the best method for a donation and get this sent off.

I was just going to send the monetary donation and the note dkg posted on page 1, but if anyone has any other ideas about something else to send, let me know.

I know it's not why we do things like this, but I personally am proud to have been able to be a part of this and we should all feel good about doing something good.

    Thanks,
    Danny
