Yes the interior plaster will not be done till the pool is ready to be filled, as soon as that is done the pool is filled, same day.

BTW if local law requires fence or pool screen room around pool this will be added / completed first.

They had to fix the fence and make the gate swing out.
They said if the gate swings outward instead of inward then kids can not open it. I do not understand this logic at all. They don't care that I keep the gate locked.

Plus we have to have alarms on any house door that leads to the backyard.
Even though our kids know how to swim. My neighbor had to install alarms and there are no kids in the house.

You need the waterfall, that is to help the cooling of the pool as well as look nice.

Depends on the size of the pool I guess. We have 100-110 degree weather in here and the pool temp is perfect, a little on the cold side actually when you get in. I have a large diving pool so there is a lot of water for the sun to heat.

    LOL,

My last pool 8yrs ago we needed to door alarms, installed finial inspection then we removed. This new pool new laws no door alarms installed / removed. (We removed as these alarms would cause us to have sliding glass door closed all the time. We don't so they where disabled) This pool we needed like 35 holes drilled in the deck for a child proof fence installation, so this was installed for the finial inspection now it sits in the garage. That cost me $450 for a fence I don't use.

steve, you re-consider your stance on a jacuzzi? that would see year-'round use. pools only see a 3-4 month usage time. the rest of the time they lie dormant.

Nah. I had a very large Coleman spa before (5-person). Spa's do nothing for me. To think of the speakers I could have had with that $4,200 makes me cringe to this day, especially since my ex got to keep the spa. ****.

Same in Arizona. minimum 5ft wall barrier/non-climable from your neighbors side of the barrier. All gates must swing out, have lock work 54" above the ground, yada yada. A 4" sphere must not be able to pass in any gate /barrier opening, etc. Alarms or 54" high-mount locks on all doors leading to pool. pool waterline must be minimum 4ft from property line, minimum 20" from any secondary barrier. Cover must be on when not in use, the list goes on and on..

In the winter, hot tub first then a swim in the cold pool. Repeat as necessary and then get a great good nights sleep...works for me. Sauna would be better but I'll have to wait a while before I build one.

I was with you till the cover part, no one has told me anything about a cover. In fact my neighbor had to buy a cover seprate.

The cover traps heat. My neighbor uses his to get the pool warmer so if you "have" to have the cover on it will increase the temp of the pool.

I also worry about my dog falling onto the cover and drowning.

Arizona cover thing is more about water conservation and evaporation. A covered pool evaporates much less.

i don't have a safety cover, but i do have a solar heating blanket. **** works! anyway, on a hot, non-humid day my water level can drop a full 3/4" from the surface a day (approx. 15,500 gallon pool) without a cover. it hardly drops at all with the cover on. for awhile there i though i had a serious leak in the piping somewhere! arizona sun for ya.

    Hey Bill,

Sounds like you have some problems with your kreepy??? I have the Polaris ATV, which has a reverse gear in case it gets stuck. The thing climbs walls and steps really well (always clean, and I don't sweep...only the pool guys who come once a week).

I'm not saying this cleaner is any better than others out there, but I've been happy with it: pool is always clean, doesn't get stuck, and no maintenance or little "baggies" on it to clean.

...and its never enforced...it's a "feel good" law. Like the alarms and locks, they inspect once, you never see them again. The state requires the pool builders to provide a solar cover on a new build.

Here's a pic of the layout in my teenie-tiny back yard. The bay window is our master bedroom, the wall on the right is 3ft wall off the patio, the wall on the left is the 4' wide x 71' long x 38" high retaining wall, and the square post is the first post on the 12 x 40 covered patio. The narrow end is 3.5' tapering quickly to 6' on the deep end:

That will be a nice pool.

I like the bench in the deep end, I like how it is not sticking out into the deep end but is outside of the edge of the pool. I wish we had done that.

Ours got cleaned out yesterday and is now waiting for the final inspection and plaster.
I suppose I have to put up the stupid alarms now.
I can't believe they do not have alarms that can be overidden from outside. We have to hear the alarm everytime we open the door from the outside.
    Total BS.

how much $? yes, my kreepy sucks, pun inteded. gets stuck every 30 minutes at least. so bad that i have to run the pump only when i'm at home otherwise it sits by the steps and wastes time and money. if i quit spending money on other ****, i could afford to purchase a new machine.

    Steve,

Looks nice, I know you will enjoy a pool I find it's makes the summers go easier ;) Also I would consider any future plumbing needs you may have now, I did and I worked out well my Electric for house and pump equipment is on the north side but future solar needed to be on the south side. Options where add solar piping under deck when built or add these pipes later across roof. I did the under deck thing and later added solar now my pool swimming time went from 4-5 months to 9-10 months.

Hmmm, 24/7 pump run at $50 per month. I don't think so, I know my pump takes 9 to 10 amps to run at 240vac so my estimate is 14.2kw per day or about $1.50 a day... This is at 6hr pump running a day.
