FREE Maxell "Get Blown Away" Posters

Maxell is giving away "Get Blown Away" posters. Older folks will remember this as the guy sitting in front of what looks like a pair of JBL Century 100's, with the speakers causing his hair, tie, and drink to get "blown away".

I've got three already. All you need to do is call them at their corporate headquarters here in Zoo Jersey (toll free number) and ask for marketing. I would post the number but I forgot it. www.maxell.com should get you to the homepage.

Okay, I just did it and it's 800 533-2836. Ask for marketing.

    Henry,

Still listening to light classical, Sesame Street, and Disney. Thanks for asking.

Trying to get ready for the insane temps and humidity that are moving in our direction from your direction. It's not looking like a good week. You take care and as always I hope everything is good with you and the rest of The Nav's.

Ah! The perfect touch for my weekly Maxell Moments, framed and hung between the SRS. Thanks George!

I like the classic ad, but I think they should have used a contemporary person for the new "Blown Away Guy" advertising campaign. Someone who has a good rapport with a wide range of demographics. (Bill Clinton comes to mind.) ;)

I don't need a poster depicting Monica's head exploding, I'll stick with the old Maxell guy.

That brought up some memories. The Cup car owner that I worked for was a avid coon hunter and used those "toothpicks" as good luck charms. It's a thin bone about 1/8th inch in diameter and 2 to 3 inches long with a curl on one end.
I only ty-rapped them to the steering column, I didn't kill the little animals and I damn sure didn't remove the "toothpicks" so don't call Peta or whoever on me.

I hate calling to ask for stuff. Do they give you any grief or are they aware that people will be calling?

No grief whatsoever. The girl asked me how many I wanted.

I used to have this on a t-shirt. Had the speakers, too!
JBL-L100s weren't the last word in audio fidelity, but for
many GI's that wanted a "smaller" speaker that would crank
R&R, these fit the bill. Hard to believe they called them "bookshelf speakers".

JBL Century 100's screeched as bad as any speaker I ever disliked. No idea how those things sold like they did, but they did. Absolutely magical at making a flute sound like an electric guitar.

When I was selling audio for a real company in the mid 70's, JBL was a big part of the store's line-up, and we had those things. We also had the JBL Sovereign's which were 5 times the size of the L100, and also sounded 5 times as bad.

When no customers were in the store it was Bozak, KLH, and ADC all the way.

Don't ask for marketing, they are screening their calls. Just ask for the poster... Geez I hate calling people.

Well, just "ordered" mine, what an amazing sales person I talked to. She acted like it was her life dream to give me these posters. She was so happy, she suggested I get 2! A big change from the usual phone conversations where they act like they are doing you a huge favor just to help you.

Having not seen this poster before, what should I refer to this poster as? I don't wanna just say, "I want the free poster!"

    :p

    I'll call sometime tomorrow.

    Oh, and that is 1 800 533 2836, right?

I just asked about "the poster" and they tranferred me to sales where I proceeded to ask about "the poster" again. They took down my info and said it'd be on the way soon.
