I was under the impression that this was a different tweeter, but customer service says its the same except for the fact that the manufactuer that made the clear covers was no longer in business, which is why they are black, but basically the same yet I hear people talk on hear about "What an improvement" I'm confused. If they are the same then I don't need them, but If they smooth out the high frequency then it would be a worthwhile purchase.

Helen explained that they were indeed a silk dome tweeter and that they weren't as harsh as the SL2000. Her first couple of emails made it sound like they were exactly the same, but clarified it on the phone. I was searching for the midrange and upper frequency response I had remembered from my
Monitor 10 series 2, but I was very shocked with these SL2000 silver dome.
A little irritating to say the least, so I will order the silk dome replacement Friday..

Welcome to the Club Polk Forums! Good move buying the RD-0194! You will definitely notice a difference. The RD-0194 is not as harsh as the SL-2000's. Let us know how you like the sound of the new tweeters.:)

I have only 16 silk dome swap outs and that DarqueKnight fellow probably has over 20. It's really good to hear that there is a difference.

You will not be disappointed. I have changed out SL2000's in SDA 2B's and SDA 2.3's. You will find the RD0194's to be much smoother and detailed with no listener fatigue. Well worth the money - you will think you have a new set of speakers. Good to see another WV.

Yeah! Baby!!! Oh man..Now that is the Polk I remember. One person said the SL2000 upgrade was like having a new speaker. This is one upgrade that is definetly worth doing. I don't know how anyone could be happy with the original SL2000 unless your system was very subdued, or dark. The upper mids to high frequency was so irritaiting that most of the music I listen to
was not pleasurable, or tolerable to say the least. (Hard Rock) If you have these original Silver Dome SL2000 and think they are a little bright then you have to buy the Silk Dome SL2000 replacement. Damn I Love these Now!!!
