I have been a member of MySpace now for about two months and feel strongly that the name should be changed to MYCRACK. Holy mother of God! I never thought at thirty five years old I would be in the grips of addiction. I never thought at thirty five years old I would be in the grips of an addiction to something that does not get me high and is FREE.

MYCRACK has ruined me. The house has water damage and I probably should hire a contractor to come up and fix them but that would involve me removing myself from my computer screen long enough to make a phone call.

My kids meals consist of things that I can make fast enough to get back to my messages and comment pages as quickly as possible. Yogurt, bread and grapes have become my sons' only food options. They are quick enough to make so I don't miss any more quality time typing messages to **** stars (they NEVER reply by the way). If my son has a problem with his new diet he will have to go live with his mother. At least temporarily because I see that she (California's newest millionaire) is on MySpace too and it will only be a matter of time before the addiction puts a stranglehold on her too!

Nothing has ever so completely dominated my life before. Not sports, not booze, not drugs or ****. MYCRACK has become my only true friend. Where else can I get random pictures sent to me from strange girls in their bras? Where else but MYCRACK can I rush home from a long day on a movie set to see if Perry Farrell approved me as his friend?

    I LOVE MYCRACK!

Many of you have messaged me on MYCRACK asking me about stand up and club dates and my si.com articles. The answer to all of your questions is I DON'T **** KNOW! Go ask someone else! I have 3,000 friends to entertain!

I am supposed to get married in the winter to my lovely and beautiful fianc

Not my cup o' tea but, as I've said many times, I'm not the consumer Polk should be trying to target.

I think to get brand recognition within a younger demographic group (not to pick on the CA guys, but it's right up thier alley)...it would make sense.

I would assume that Polk would handle it in thier normal classy way.

sure, actually, I'm probably one of the few people that does NOT use myspace to meet friends. I just got my circle of friends and loved ones, and we all keep tabs on eachother. blogs, pictures and whatever.

I think, if done right, it can be a HUGE marketing tool. Polk has enough fans to dedicate a large part of there worday typing stuff all day, I certainly think that would translate well to the Myspace community. pedophiles and sycophants notwithstanding :D fortunatly, there are alot of normal people on yspace too, they just dont generate news and exposure.

I don't knock people for not liking MySpace, it can be a deplorable place, and it's obviously not for everyone. I'm just knocking some of the more ignorant comments out there, that's all. You don't like it, doesn't mean that Polk couldn't possibly make some money off of it. It's very popular, even amongst people of a demographic that can afford Polk products.

And saying it reminds you of pedophelia or whatever is just called paying too much attention to the news.

I got all the **** to stop requesting to be my friend by making it so only people who knew my last name or... something else (I forget) could invite me as a friend.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

your right, and they are the kings of audio marketing. think about it, they sell equipment I equate to the leaky asscrack of the audio spectrum, yet, to the uninitiated, they are reverred as a top notch audio brand.

God forbid Polk taps that. in this day and age, aggresive marketing rules the day. I would love to see Polk become as big as Bose, as long as they make **** I like, I'll continue to support them. If they make all there stuff like Bose, (like that would ever happen) then I just wouldnt buy it.

hey, Myspace might not be the answer, i'm not guaranteeing it is, but if Polk is looking for innovative ways to market well, I say god bless.

myspace is a place where "people" can go, and easily create a website about themselves and allows others to see and join lists of "friends"

Polk audio already has a website, and a damn good one at that. Polk creating an account at Myspace only benefits Myspace in my opinion. Polk having a list of "friends" is irrelevant and only opens Polk up to liability.

I just don't see it as a worthwhile marketing tool. Are people so idiotic that they think myspace.com is the only valid internet url? Do people really think "Hmm... I want some speakers, let me see what's on Myspace today??"

In the end, yes, Polk might end up selling one or two pair of speakers because someone falls so in love with a Polk myspace page, but I just don't think its worth the liability of being associated with such a highly scrutenized "people" meeting place.

Yes, myspace.com is a website that is probably accessed by MILLIONS of people everyday, that doesn't necessarily make it a valuable marketing tool. Hell, everyone takes a dump everyday, but I don't see any Polk branded toilet seats or toilet paper.

Still, it seems to me that Polk's latest mantra is business before quality as of late anyway. If they want to live up to that, if they want to become the next Bose, let 'em do whatever they like. MySpace or not.

I guess building a bigger customer base, and keeping a quality product isnt synonomous? the more Polk markets, its a given that Quality HAS to suffer?

guess that will never make sense to me. oh well, agree to disagree.

Since I made the comment about MY personal preferences as far as friends and meeting people I assume you are talking about me. In what way am I a hypocrite? Did I criticize those who use it? No. I just simply stated it wasn't for me, and even alluded to the fact that that might make me "old-fashioned."

Have I ever met in person, or even talked on the phone with someone from these forums? Nope. I come here to alleve my boredom while I wait for the server farms at work to complete my jobs. I don't use a computer unless I absolutely have to outside of work so I really only go here during work hours. Do I criticize people that do more than that? Nope.

This fine Polk forum and its members provide me with much appreciated humor and intelligent discussion on the many 1-3 minute dead times I have at work. I can guarantee you that I won't find that at myspace.com or any other general social networking site. Just because YOU like myspace and I don't, doesn't make me a hypocrite.

Affordable, inexpensive, mass market, quality...they are not mutually exclusive when it comes to Polk IMO.

    Hi --
I'm Eliza McLaren. I started working in the marketing department here at Polk last week. I'm taking a quick poll to see how many of you have MySpace accounts. We're thinking of starting a Polk Audio page on MySpace. What do you think about this?

    Thanks!

First off, congrats for landing a killer job at Polk Audio!

Second, you're new title is "Marketing Program Manager". Ummm...yeah.

LSi's are part of there current line.

I got em, and have no feelings of quality issues. I guess becasue they dont make a 150,000.00 uberspeaker? They make damn good products for a good price. what is that much better at there price points?
